What about to leave a hello pad/message on the windshield?saw a really cool fj40 at the coffee shop this afternoon. Parked probibly less than 100 feet of mine (parked at the school) looks like it has good bones! I would love to have this one too haha. Wish I had time to find the owner and talk to them. But I was on a quick lunch break. anyways not everyday you run into another fj40 on Ocracoke island

Ok... the flat spots come out after a few minutes of driving.
And as for "wandering," have a competent alignment shop align your tires. I call bulls*** on the wandering thing.
I've driven bias ply tires all my life and don't understand the wandering comment. Learn to actually drive if it bothers you.
I'm still seeing STA Traxions for $124 apiece in various online shops. Keep away from the Coker rip off website and you'll be fine.
Do you consider $108 to be expensive?

I am not really worried about running bias pys. especially as I run alot of dirty/ 25mph roads around here. rarely do I take it up to 55. additionally I am planning on keeping my kendas for a while at least. and yeah the power kings are not expensive. one of the reasons I am looking at them over the STA branded ones. I think the only down side to the power king ones is that they are directional tires. I do really think the STA super traxions look better than the power king ones though. I think @wngrog ran power kings on his spring green fj40 maybe he can chime in on these. 108 a tire is a fantastic price.Put some Bias ply tires on one of the FJ45’s. Did not like them at all. They looked period correct but got flat spots after sitting and wandered quite a bit. FYI, I’d try to drive a buddies rig with some Bias Ply’s first. I think you will change your mind…
Just my thoughts

I should have done that. however I was on my way to work when I saw it and I did not really have time. What about to leave a hello pad/message on the windshield?
Big radial up to no good spreading rumors of wondering. JK hahaI didn't mean to come off as an ass. It's just the way I am. Have heard the wandering issue for years now and think it's way overblown.
This is what I was referring to when I said I think you ran it on a spring green 40. this was back in 2017. But also not trying stir the pot.I run the s*** out of them. Everywhere. Highway. No problem. The steer great.
Loud, yes.
Looks.
Unbeatable.

thanks for the tip on this. I ended up buying one of these!
If you end up moving on from the Kenda's gimme a holla... crazy to think that 2 places in the same state can be so far apart (I'm in Western NC a lot)... but those tires may be in my future at some point...I am not really worried about running bias pys. especially as I run alot of dirty/ 25mph roads around here. rarely do I take it up to 55. additionally I am planning on keeping my kendas for a while at least. and yeah the power kings are not expensive. one of the reasons I am looking at them over the STA branded ones. @cppilot I love that 45! I have actually driven a few 1970s ford trucks with bias plys. I am with you though on loosing performance with these tires. I think my biggest concern is how they drive on the beach. I have read they dont air down well. Kinda why I thought the Firestone NDCC would be a good option for me. I have heard from a few friends with willys jeeps that run these and they say they are the best tire for the beach here. Additionally I think a donlop equivlent was a factory tire back in 1964. Thanks for chiming in! I hope all is well in your world. View attachment 3459123
Me too. Every cruiser I have had came with what I consider a goofy tire size for what it is and I end up changing it. Its for sure personal preference. My Kzj78 had 33x12.50s on it when I bought it with some ugly rims. My fj80 had small 30s on it. And this fj40 actually has tires that I think fit the vehicle (33x9.50 15 kendas) but it has a 4 inch suspension and I worry It will be a tight fit after I put the new springs in witch are 1.75 inch over stock. I guess the deciding factor on what I will do will come after I finish the suspension.I have 4 passenger vehicles, 2 Atvs, 4 trailers and 4 bikes. I loathe tires.
That’s 18 tires not including spares.
I just want them to be everlasting or at least like leaf springs, every decade or so.
I’m tired of tires, they tire me.
I have had exactly two sets of tires on my 186,000 mile tundra, both BFG KO2’s. I’m impressed with how long they lasted but don’t love the rock pickup and they’re now really high priced.Me too. I actually have run bfgoodrich tires on alot of vehicles. my tacoma had all terrains, first gen 4runner had bfg mud terrains, and my fj80 i put bfg all terrains. I wish I had kept the all terrains on the fj80. they were almost new when we rolled it. Hell I think bfg has a 750 16 size tire... maybe I should actually just do that.I have had exactly two sets of tires on my 186,000 mile tundra, both BFG KO2’s. I want to go with a smaller wheel size than 20” now that I need new tires again as I feel these can be too stiff.
Ugh, tires… so tiring.
I’m sure that’s what I throw back on the tundra to KISS.I actually have run bfgoodrich tires on alot of vehicles. my tacoma had all terrains, first gen 4runner had bfg mud terrains, and my fj80 i put bfg all terrains.
