I assumed the city racer one was oem but that makes total sense that its not oem. Thanks for the info. I did see a 16 inch split rim oem set for sale in Wilmington NC recently though.
I've got the split rims & bias ply tires that were on the Salt Wagon when we got it (photos below). I might have put up a sale notice at some point for those.

Thats how I would describe the 4 inch lift as looking slightly cartoony with narrow 33x9.50 kends. I had 33x10.50s bfg ats on my fj80 and really liked those on that. Looked perfect with the stock height lift. I saw a 62 for sale on Marketplace that had 33s and it looked goood.

I could be wrong but I dont think you can find oem height springs for the 40 series anymore. If you could I think I would go back to oem height and some bias plys. Just like what @120mm has on his. I think I can get closer to 32 inch bias plys for the 16 inch rim though. It Just looks the perfect vintage for the vehicle. But I think best I can do is the 1.75 inch from dobinsons.
I really really like my set up. And it's more capable than many might think.

I have been idly thinking about having a second set of tires and rims with a less aggressive tread like that for road trips. I really, really like the look.

Hey @Shyrock I hope all is well in your world. I may be interested in these rims in the future. sta makes a 16 inch super traxion tire tire that would look good on the salt wagon after I put the lower springs on. I think those tires are about 32 inchs tall. where the 15 inch rim is a 30 inch tall tire in that style tire. I think this is the size I am talking about STA Super Traxion | 750-16 - https://www.cokertire.com/tires/sta-super-traction-750-16.html I have seen them much cheeper than there. I am hoping to make a trip to wilmington with rachael and some point this fall. Maybe we can make it happen where we can all go to the cars and coffee.

I think Simpletire has the best price on those

Alert: first part not fj40 related. I was gifted/donated a really nice canon Pro 4100 large format printer. these things are crazy expensive and was very lucky sombody basically gave it to me to use. It is only about a year old. Just long enough for the warranty to be out. its really cool as it will print an image up to 44 inches wide. I was testing it out on Monday and got a few really nice shots printed I took in Maine. Then on the second round of prints it just stopped printing. got as far as the picture below. No power, cant get it to turn on. I think the power supply blew a fuse. contacted canon and cannot get the a power supply unit circuit board.

so I did as you should not do as I love tinkering.... I took the back off to see if I could find anything obvious.

I think the issue is this ceramic fuse. I tested it for continuity and it tested faulty. the fuse is soldered in. looks to be relitivly simple to replace. I am hoping I will be able to replace it and the printer will run again. I really want to print some large photos of the old land cruiser. so once/ if I get the printer fixed I might be selling a few land cruiser themed photographic prints.

Printed the image below with it. I am actually sending this photo to @red66toy once I find a good shipping tube.

Fj40 news: I have some more parts coming. I am going to put new rear axle seals in. I have a rear axle seal and bearing kit coming from cruiser teq. Additionally I purchased some new oem breathers for the front and rear axels. I think I have a lead on an engine again. Probably going to buy it I am very excited about that. Best yet it may have a free ride down to Ocracoke. I am going to purchase the leaf springs this weekend. I am going with dobinsons 1.75 inch lift springs. going to install them with the shackles I purchased and then buy the shocks later. Just wish the dang shipping on that was not 250$

Did you get the springs directly from Dobinson's? I believe Trail Tailor offers free shipping so that could save you. Also, if you're willing to wait, I've heard Dobinson's runs a sale around black friday. Just a thought...

there is a thought! Yeah I was goring to order them directly but maybe trail tailor is a better option!

He might be a little busy. I messaged him a few weeks ago and haven't heard back. Last I heard from him the heavy springs were out of stock but it looks like the standard duty ones are available. Just not sure if he has them or not. I know a lot of people purchase from Exit Offroad, too. I'm going to have to wait for my wallet to fill up a bit more so I'm holding off until Black Friday to see how deals shape up. I already installed Bilstein shocks so I'm just going with everything from the standard duty kit minus the shocks.

Gotcha. Yeah I sent an email. We will see what trail tailor says. I really want to get this suspension apart starting soon. I am getting excited about it. The rough country suspension has got to go. I have put up with the rough ride for too long. these dobinsons have got to be better haha. yeah I looked at both exit offroad and directly from dobinsons and the shipping is the same 250$

I recently got a full medium Dobisons suspension kit from @TRAIL TAILOR jason for the 62 here and it was a solid transaction.

As someone who has their work printed large often, ditch that thing. Sorry, but it will be nothing but a headache. Trust me on this.

It is so much cheaper, easier, better to just find your best local printer and have them do it. Agave Print does mine here locally and they are the bomb. I had a very large format printer for a hot minute and quickly realized that I was going down the darkest of rabbit holes. Ditched it in the fastest way possible.

Please, trust me on this.

Ian @RevISK do you do your own film scanning or have the lab do that also?

yeah I normally use bayphoto labs or something like that. But I dont have any printing labs anwhere close to me so it all has to be shipped. I will say its not the end of the world if this printer is a brick. I luckily did not pay for it. However if I can get it working again why not. It is bull that canon did not have a new power supply unit though. Thanks for the warning.

additionally I am going to pm you about the springs.

I did all my scanning/developing 5 years ago. I stopped doing as much scanning my self because it can be time consuming. If I want to keep shooting film I may need to go back to it. the cost has become high.

For for clients I’ll have it drum scanned if it’s 8x10,
Otherwise I’ve stopped using my scanner (which was good, albeit, cumbersome) and now use a copy stand, anti-newton glass, high CRI light pad and a high resolution dslr (Nikon D850) camera with my sharpest macro lens. For panoramic (I shoot a lot of 6x17) I’ll shoot up to 5 shots and tile them in Lightroom. I’ve had pictures blown up to 14’x44’ using this technique and it’s amazing how sharp they are. There are a couple more ingredients at play here but that’s my work flow now.

It’s the ink and maintenance that become the real cement slippers in my experience.

My place here, Agave, prints for some of the biggest names in photography and ships all over the world. I’ll happily share their info if you’d like.

The place I use for developing larger quantities of film is in Denver, they do great work and still do E6.
Even with shipping (50/50) it’s reasonable.

I do a lot of developing here in my studio, but I’ll send the E6 out as it’s a lot of chemistry to deal with. Use a 1-shot (dev/stop/fix) from cinistill that cuts developing time down to 6 minutes for B&W.

C-41 is a bit more cumbersome but with a sous vide it’s pretty easy.

Cinestill is awesome. I got one of those temp control devices from them for c41. yeah I have been using Nice film lab in brooklyn NY. they have been pretty good. decent prices. I used ilfotec ddx for black and white and it was always pretty good. I think it was the same thing as kodak hc110. I still need to try the cinestill developer. seems like a lot less fuss with mixing and poring out chemicals for sure! I am going to buy some now actually haha.

good news! I purchased some dobinsons 1.75 lift springs. Cant wait for it to ride smoother. I have the shackles, bushings, ubolts so hopefully the springs get here by next weekend and Ill start replacing everything.

Start squirting your penetration fluid of choice.

I hit everything with Corrosion X and everything has come off beautifully so far.
