Has anyone installed the TJM snorkel on a 5.7L truck? I spoke with TJM and they confirmed that it would fit the 4.6L but could not confirm fitment on the 5.7L. Thanks.

The 4.6 and 5.7 have the same i take system aside from the inlet pipe to the air box on a 4.6 is round while it's odd shaped on the 5.7 (pictured pteviously).

I'd ask TJM to send a picture/dimensions of the rubber pipe that mounts to the airbox and do the same as what they do for the safari, get a larger hose clamp, heat up the rubber, get it on and clamp it down.

I did not do the transmission or transfer case as I am yet to determine accessibility and location.

I was curious if you had expanded from the diffs onto the txfer and trans as of yet?

No, not yet. I need to find a thread or pics of where these are located. Anyone?

nothing against having a snorkeler on the truck, I have one on my FZJ80 - but this Safari delight is outdated . I like TJM way better looking snorkeler.

Meh... Different strokes for different folks, I guess...because I personally think the TJM looks uglehhh... Mine will be an ARB...

As for cutting holes in me perty fender? -I'm waiting til I'm in Slee's zip code for that one... ;)

@BTUMAN - I have not tested my snorkel in deep water yet, but I should point out that Slee has been very careful to point out to me more than once that the snorkel is "primarily for dust."

I assumed this was standard CYA language, but seeing the odd shape on the air intake box now makes me nervous to actually go for it in deep water.

If you do actually go "hood deep" I would love to know it worked out.

I used a heat gun on the rubber grommet connecting the snorkel to the airbox, then used an aftermarket stainless steel hose clamp around that opening. I also used RTV Silicon on the connections.

There is no way any water is going to get in that airbox, except for through the snorkel itself.

As to transfer case and tranny breathers: I did not see any when I was doing my 90k serevice, though I wasn't exactly looking for them. Luckily, now that I have a body lift, I should be able to more easily access them when I do come across one.

Ya...dust is a worthy reason though. If you drive the Dalton highway in Alaska up to the Arctic Ocean at Prudho bay, the DUST on the way there is horrid, and would be a great place to have a snorkel. I do think it would prevent catastrophic damage in crossings, but I'm you'd e'd be wise re-pack bearings, etc. and drain diffs, etc. after deep water. I guess there's no bullet proof protection for frequent deep water...?

The guys in Australia seem to run 5 junctions and a T. Lots of areas with frequent water. Trying to find what all of those are. Lcool had some good write ups that are down now :/

I crawled under the cruiser just a while ago and could not find the tyranny of the transfer case breather tube.

I have a decent experience with water .. and even if you didn't seal it that well, small amount of water will remain in the bottom of the air box .. you gotta be very long time submerged and then WOT to get that water in your engine ..

For you gasser guys, I believe some electrical stuff it's more prone to fail before ..

Got a picture?

Is it this thing? Silver capped hose in the white snap bracket:

That's the same cap on my rear diff breather tube...

Easy peasy. They give you a template to trace too.
