Well I received the tracking info for my fridge, the first order for it was canceled, so I got a little worried. The fridge is coming from Greenville, SC, so I guess that's where the brand new units with no scratches or dents ship from, not Austin!

Hopefully UPS/FEDEX doesn't dent it for you.

Odd I would expect them to come from a place closer to a seaport than Greenville!

That's what I meant, Norfolk would make more sense, Greenville isn't exactly a hop skip and a jump from the eastern seaboard.

Anyhow I bet you're chomping at the bit to get it!

I don't know, it is a bit odd. The Openboxdirect / Living Direct / Edgestar distribution center appears to be in Austin. That is where I received the dent one from and where I sent it back to.

I'm kind of ready to get it back, I held off on doing the electrical work on my LX until I actually have a working fridge. Call me crazy, if I got refunded I didn't want to tie any more money up in the build right now without knowing when I could get another cheap unit. And I think I might make a cage for it, which would be easier to mock up if I had the fridge. And I'm ready to go camping with no ice!

After reading and first hand experience, I've confirmed that the plastic handles on this fridge are very weak. The handles can easily seperate from the base, causing it to fall to the ground. If you secure the fridge to the truck with straps running through the handles, you could see where this could also be a problem.

I can't find who to give credit for the idea at the moment, but below is the link and a pic of replacement handles. I will feel much better carrying the fridge around and securing it in the truck with the new handles.

Do the new and improved handles use the existing holes?

I saw on expedition portal the use of plate steel for a tie down bracket, and the handle mounted on top of that (presumably with longer screws). It doesn't really help with the crummy plastic handle issue, but would give a better tie down point.

If I make a set of these for myself, anyone else want some?

Today is supposed to be new fridge day #2 for me. I checked the Fedex tracking and it says it's in town but "shipping exception, cannot deliver under this tracking number, multiple shipping labels on package".

I called fedex and asked if I would be receiving the package anytime soon and they said it is out for delivery today. It didn't indicate that on the tracking, so I won't be surprised if I don't get it.

You are chomping at the bit for it aren't you?! Don't blame you, just finally got mine out of the box this weekend and ran it on AC setting it to FF and froze a bottle of water in under 3 hours. Ran it on DC on the way home but before I left work I set it to 0 and then opened it up to let it warm up till the display indicated 20 and when I got home it was 0. I only heard it kick on once on the way home, after the initial cool down, and it happened to be when I was at a stop light or I didn't think I would be able to hear it.

Mine had a small dent in the back bottom corner and some blue marks on the front near the lid, other than that I'm stoked to never have to buy ice and drain a regular cooler while camping ever again.

Of course! I'm ready to play with my new toy. Good to hear your unit is working. It's freezing here right now, but I'm looking forward to summer and not having to deal with coolers and ice.

I think I talked mom into getting a smaller one for her SUV. She lives far from the stores and enjoys road tripping a lot, so she could really use one. I'd have to do the same mod to her Honda, the rear 12v power is only hot with the ignition on. Plus it will give me an excuse to give her my slide and build a better one.

Edit: Yep, FedEx lost it  Edgestar is going to send me another one.

WTF?? FedEx is usually pretty good, well at least you know if they were trying to give you a new one with a messed up box you're now for sure getting a brand new shiny one! I'm going to laugh if you end up with 2!

I have not had any issues with FedEx. I see the same lady weekly with all the stuff we get from amazon. Maybe she got mad at me after carrying the last 60lb package up the drive.

Any tracking on number 3 yet? !

Negative. You know when you are standing in line for a really long time at a store and everyone around you is getting checked out.... That's pretty much my life in a nutshell. I just laugh at the wide range of good and bad luck I seem to have.

It would seem you can't have one without the other!
