I have an ARB but I wish I'd paid this little. I did make a comment on an earlier thread about what I'd 'heard' about Edgestar (hit and miss quality) but the price is right , and if it's working, it's working. I certainly don't care ablout branding as long as it works.

As for the LV cutoff, I was thinking of investing in one of these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/KOOLATRON-1...839?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f0e845b77
It think the quality is low, and a techie guy could probably build his own, but it serves the purpose of protecting your starting batteries....

I would get an adjustable one.

I'm going to do this

see 4th post down for low voltage cut off only, parts about $15

I'm surprised some ARB-type out there hasn't yet made some snide comments about the Edgestar in this thread... :)
Maybe these prices have them hiding in shame...? :D

I have an ARB, and I paid even less that you guys did for these Edgestars...

Won it in a raffle on something like $40 worth of tickets :p

As for the low voltage cutoff, the ARB has it, but for what ever reasons mine did not leave enough juice in it to start my hdj81 on it's stock dual battery system.
I have since changed it to 12v start and use the second battery dedicated to the fridge and other crap, no worries about it now, the fridge takes power priority.
So long story short, if you can, use a dedicated battery and take the worry out.

I called edgestar a week ago about the scratch & dent fridge I had to send back for repair and they said it would be a week. I checked back today and they said they'd leave a message with the technicians, not sure what that means. It doesn't sound like I will be getting it back anytime soon.

This is one of those times of the year where they're probably pretty busy. With the holidays just past, there's likely a backlog from everyone's giftgiving. They're get to and get it right, it just may take a little longer than rightaway.

Lol, sold a bunch of fridges so now they are busy fixing them.

The ARB low voltage cutoff is adjustable and has 3 levels. Check that you have the appropriate one.

Just a heads up but the 43qt is available again. Mine was dropped off today by fedex and is now in the living room on FF to see if all is well. so far so good. I can't wait to try it on 12 volt. (oh, and the "dent" is tiny on the bottom corner)

Dang, I wish those were available when I got the 63 quart. Good deal for $220 plus tax.

Glad people are getting in on the deals and passing along the info whenn they're in stock.

This was one of those things I always wanted but could never justify spending nearly a grand on for a big name.

Hope that those that find them in stock will continue to pass the info along after they've checked out so that other mudders can get in on the deal too.

PICS OF THE 63:bounce:

Dayum! That's huge! Was the damage known prior to ordering it?
Could you get it swapped for a different one?

You get what you get. It's just cosmetic. I could care less what it looks like, as long as it works. And it works great!

Does look like someone rolled it down a flight of stairs though. LOL.

Maybe that's the one they used for the crash test?:hillbilly:

Just made my weekly phone call to edgestar about when I might be getting my fridge back from repair. The rep told me the tech said they didn't want to fix the fridge, just send me a replacement. They didn't have any scratch and dent 63 quart at this point, so he said edgestar would ship me a new one today! Sounds like a good deal to me.

Nice to see the warranty issues are handled nicely.

BTW you suck:flipoff2:

I have been treated fairly I feel like and everyone has been nice on the phone. I wonder what they do with the junk units. The one I sent in worked fine on 12v.

So basically for $270 and a bit of hassle you're getting a new one that sells for twice what you paid!

I knew their CS was good but holycow!! If you do get them on the phone again you should ask about the old one since it did work on DC if you can buy it back for $50!
