Right tire sizes for OME 2.5" lift?

33's will take you freakin' everywhere, you don't need to regear your truck, it doesn't strain anything in any way, looks great...one tire (size) to rule them all.

Can't Agree more!

33s unless you plan to seriously wheel it. As soon as you do 35s then you'll want to regear and that can get into some serious money. In addition, the higher lift puts new and different stress on your drive shafts and transfer case. I know all of this because I eventually had to address all of it. In fact, I regeared, replaced both drive shafts and replaced the bearings in the rear nose of my transfer case (actually Robbie Antonson replaced it) but you get the gist.

I'm on 35s with a J lift (3.5") and stock gears. The rig drives and handles nicely. The high point on my rig is about 6'6". Most parking garages are over 7' so not much of an issue. If they're under 7', I usually look for a surface lot. Long springs and shocks allow for a lot of bounce, I've nipped the roof rack in a 6'10" garage.

I have 315/75 Duratracs on my 2.5" OME lift. It does rub some in off camber situations off road, but I think it looks pretty good. I can also park in my 7' high door garage with this setup and only the factory roof rack.

This is the part I don't get. My truck has 863's (2.5 heavies tags are still on the springs) and it sits at 7' tall with 265's. No factory roof rack or anything. Is my cruiser really that much lighter than everyone else's? Did OME mislabel some 863J's as 863's? What's the deal? :)

I have 315's and a 2.5 inch lift and it drives and feels great. I am not sure if I will regear. Right now it is nice on the freeway. I suppose it would help with the lower end on the trail but for now I am not hurried to do a ring swap.

Ditto on this, had 285's and they worked well, have 315's and would not go back. Will regear if I end up putting lockers in it, but it is certainly not necessary.

I went with 33's because they're cheaper, easier on gas, easier on freeway climbing, and I don't do rock crawling. To each his own, but to simply say that bigger is better is an oversimplification. Your intended use/budget/preferences for mileage/comfort/etc. are all big factors. If you have a buddy with 35's on his rig you should consider driving it a bit before you decide.

white lx 33'' grey has 35'' with front coil spacers ...actually these pics are of the same truck after alot of knuckle bustin

another thing to keep in mind, keeping stock flares will make the tires look bigger, 33's look good with flares but IMO not so much without. I had 285's for awhile with no flares and 2.5 inch lift. The tires always looked too small and did not fit the wheelwells. 315's are really almost perfect. I do get some stinkbug when loaded up but I purchased some air bags to remedy this though.

2.5 iron man lift on 315 bighorns.. I couldnt be happier with the size of tire and the diff clearance. i just wish i had lockers.

285-75/16 duratracs with about a 2.5" lift. I recently added Spidertrax spacers to widen the stance and let the tire tread see some light of day from under the wheel wells.

That's a nice beer pile.

How is the noise level of the Maxxis Bighorns MT compared to other tires you had? Thanks.
To be honest this is my first lifted vehicle and ive always owned lowered cars before my lx. I like the bighorns alot they grip well and they dont make too much noise on the road.
