Right tire sizes for OME 2.5" lift?

Bugs is spot on. If you trim a little, 38-40's are wheel-able at 2 inches of lift. I cut the front fenders following the flare bolt holes and could fit 42's up front with Ironman medium springs and a 1 inch body lift. It makes my 38.5x11 boggers look small. The rear is the limiting factor. That's why the arctic truck guys move the axle back because you run out of what you can cut going forward towards the rear doors. It is smooth sailing when you are cutting towards the back of the rear wheel wells. I went from 33's straight to 38's. 35's don't make sense if you really want to max offroad performance of these vehicles. We need all the ground clearance we can get!

Ome? Heavy or medium? Armor? 35's were fine on my truck with ome medium until I added front and rear bumpers, sliders, skidplates and sliders, then I wished I had heavies or even j's. 35's will contact the outer fender lip (with no flares) if you load it heavy enough or hit a big enough bump so you will have to extend your bumpstops. With extended bumpstops you can run longer shocks or space down your existing shocks. Tires will still rub the inner fenders during articulation.

True. That is where tire width, rim backspacing, and a little rear bumpstop extension come into play. Any tire 35" and up is going to rub the inner fender at stock 4.5" backspacing unless the rear bumpstop is extended down at least 2 inches. I have sliders, light front and rear armor, and I'm usually not loaded up with a whole lot of weight. Tread and section width of the tire have a big impact on fitment as well. A 40x13.50 with a decently narrow tread width on a custom 8" rim with 3.5" backspacing would be nearly the perfect setup to fit at lower lift heights IMHO. 40x12.50 would be even better if anyone made them...

i think 4" is the magic number on the backspacing. the front has a ton or room...the rear is definitely the issue. i have 2" rear bumpstop drop, trimmed the lip almost to the max, and my rear tires still rub, but its more due to the 3.5" BS of the rim pushing the tire out to where the well curves on the inside.

my plan is to be on 42s and 4" of lift by next summer....remove inner fenders on the front and mini tub in the rear...marks in the middle.

I've ran the 33's for about 2 years and the PO had them for a couple years before that. served me well but it's time to go bigger.

Nice MTZ's! I just got 35 inch ATZ's mounted. Make sure to throw up a pic of them once on the truck, please!

Ask and you shall receive. Finally got them mounted up last night. I will add that in the near future I am going to install a set of the 1.5 in Metal tech coil spacers up front to level her out a bit and give a little more clearance up front.

Hey, bugsnbikes, I like the tube rear bumper. Kinda what I'm looking for. hit me up when you can, would like to chat about it. Thanks

Seems way more effective to just send a PM.

Not that I mind you bringing this thread back from the dead.. good info and answers to questions I had myself.

If I were to do things all over again I would've gone with a 2.5" heavy and 35s. It's the perfect height for most trials and it simply looks bad ass! But I went with a 4" kit, some front fender trimming and 345s. In planning on running some 37x12.5x17s in the future to suit my desires.

295/75/16 BFG AT with 2.5 inch heavy rub in the back inside fender well for mine (33.2 inch). As per the manufacture's web sites, these tires are the biggest you can get before heading into the 35 inch range. But I haven't done tire research in a few years so maybe there is a new model out there.

Looks like I might be in the minority... but I really do like the look of my OME 2.5", full heavy, with 30mm MAF spacers up front. Running 285/75/16's. Those are Bump-it offroads step sliders as well.
