Hello all, I have use the search function. I can say I probably spent about two hours looking for this answer before finally I threw my hands up and now I appeal to you guys to maybe help me out.

I'm trying to remove the roll cage so I can install the soft top frame and bows. I have removed all the retaining nuts visible above but the thing will not budge! Is there another attachment point that I have failed to disconnect?

I'll post pics in the AM.

Thanks All!

71 didn't have a stock roll cage. Im sure we can help once you post pics. My roll bar was rusted to my floor boards and needed some persuasion to come out.

Yes this one doesn't look like any of the cages I have seen out there. Here are some pics - yes in the dark . Lol night here South of Houston.

That last pic.... if that's an underbody pic, it looks like some one added a frame tie kit but welded it to the rusty body, which could have easily welded to the plate in the cab....

Is that what I'm seeing?

Yes the black ones are all underbody pics. That was my big fear was some crappy errant weld job. I wish there was a way to know for sure. Any ideas how I should go about attaching soft top frame? My frame attachment feet look like as attached...

My guess is too much prying will bend up your wheel wells. So you're probably wanting to avoid that. If you haven't already done so, perhaps jaring it loose with a big hammer might work. Perhaps in conjunction with a block of wood so as not to "beat to s***" your c pillar. As you probably know getting things "red hot" can help break stuff loose. Good luck

It's only welded to the reinforcing plate under the rig... The cage on top is only bolted

X2 get the bolts out

It is most likely also 'glued' down because it was bolted on top of sprayon bed liner and glued nicely after a ton of heat from the weld soften up the floor

Have somebody put pressure up on the cage as you use a putty knife between the cage and flooring

Happy Easter :)

looks to me the washers are the only things glued or welded, Id go top side and try a little motivating on the Bolts with slight tap from a sledge hammer., bet those bots would pop right off. for getting the roll bar off I think if you can squeeze a car jack under the first bar you can have alittle leverage and control , you can stop if the wheel well does start to bend alittle. I think you just need it to break free just a bit ... also if you cant fit jack try a piece of wood on the wheel well to disperse the weight then use a pry bar..
good luck and happy easter

Thanks guys!!!! What you said worked!! Luckily it was not welded just rusted. Banged it a bit with mallet and pry bar. Pop she came off.

Thank you guts for the guidance.
