Happy Birthday! When was the special day of birth?

I bought the trail tailor bushing press kit several months ago. My press isn’t exactly up to the job but it did press out the first bushing after some moaning and groaning. The next two I decided to press out the center rubber section and then use a hack saw blade to compromise the integrity of the outer ring and then pond it out with a five pound hammer and chisel. This works but requires a bit more energy.

The second arm went well. All pressing no hammering. Wes, thanks for the offer. I’ll keep chopping away tomorrow and probably get it done.

Today we will clean up the rear axle housing and spray it with some rust converter. Paint will probably come tomorrow.

The built rear axle out of the Champ 1 is about as ready as it will get for paint on my watch. Has anyone ever painted over rust converter the same day. The directions request 24 hours prior to top coat. This tractor sure does come in handy.

58 and sunny following several days of hard rain. The creek swole over its banks.

So the last post was from yesterday but I failed to send it so now the rear axle done and painted with MRO flat black. The tractor is my favorite tool. Next is installing the front axle.

I decided to have new, longer front and rear brake hoses made. Dropped those off today and had a very interesting conversation with the proprietor concerning the good ole United States of America.

I haven't used that stuff, but I do use Rust-Oleum Rust Dissolver and it can be ready to paint within an hour. I swear by the stuff.

The can said best to wait 48 hours to top coat the rust converter. I waited about 20 hours.

The conversation involved myself and the two guys working there. One guy 64 and the other 49. We were all on the same page. However, I recognize that what concerns people today is not “America” it’s the unAmerican that exists here. All we have to do is stomp its guts out.

Serious question:

Have you rotated your axle shafts after all that welding on the bottom of that housing?

That much welding on the bottom could easily warp the housing and pull the outer tips down towards the welded side as the welds shrink as they cool.

The welds went on slowly. I weld slow. The bottom of the housing is a truss welded on at the factory so there is a good bit of extra steel for support there already. I did what I did because I foresee a lot of frustration being taken out on this rig next year or whenever I get this rig on the road. I received notice that the turbo kit shipped!

We understand all that but did you try to rotate axles shafts?
I’m thinking it’s a legit question.
