Envious

I missed your post Paul. Hey don’t be envious of this project. I bit of a big chunk and it’s testing me. It’s like looking at a mile high wall that has to be climbed somehow. It’s frustrating but I keep reminding myself that I’m a lucky man to be able to have those frustrations. The turbo does add some excitement though.

Ok, the AC cooler box, fan, and also the ECU are back in. That was yesterday. For you 93-94 owners the 95+ ECU is mounted vertically right behind the speaker on the passenger side dash. This was new to me coming from older 80’s but this mounting location gives more space for all those wire connectors up and forward.

Since this morning I’ve been tinkering with the shifter console. Was going to use the one from the 93 bc it has the non- leather shifter grip but the shift gate markers of the 96 are spaced slightly different. So I had to dig into it. Found out I had to cut the O/D button wires in order to remove the grip. Anyway, it’s done, all lubed and wires soldered and shrink wrapped. I had replaced the big rubber boot on the bottom a few years ago on the 93 so I transferred that to this 96 shifter.

The plate was pretty nasty so I cleaned it up with a wire brush and disassemble the plastic assembly to wash it in the kitchen sink. Came out well enough.

The neighbor boys are off school now and just in time. The down pipe is finally wrapped. They did the job I didn’t want to do.
