I pick up my 4 1/2" more often than the big "dude". There is a good supply of grinding wheels, sanding discs, buffing pads, and diamond masonry cut off blades for them also.
Milwaukee or Hitachi seem to hold up well for me.

Milwaukee ($99.00)
I have two, one with a cutting wheel the other a grinding wheel.

White Shark has two Bosch's in the same configuration,.

Both make really nice grinders, however the Bosch has a little less amperage (power) but you can't notice any difference. The one advantage of the Bosch is it is a little lighter than the Milwaukee.

I love the Milwaukee, but for the right price I wouldn't turn down the Bosch, DeWalt, or Hitachi.

Have 3. Dewalt 4", Ryobi 4", and a black and decker. They all work good the ryobi is a little slow. Had a chance to try a milwauki. I will never go to any other. It was great.

By far, my 4.5 inch grinder is my favorite tool. I like thin cut off wheels and use them for scaling and cutting. I have also used the metal grinding wheels when welding. A knotted wire wheel is also really handy for grinding everything.

If the grinder will get very light use, I think you'll be fine to buy one from home depot for 60-85 bucks. If it will get some solid use, I would shop around for the most stout Milwaulkee you can find. If you come across a Metabo for less than $110 I would buy two and keep one for yourself.

I have more miles on my Makita grinder than I do on my 69 FJ (I have changed the brushes in it twice).. every Makita tool I have I was bought new by me, and they all still work as good as the day I bought then, some are 20+ years old, no kidding.. and I am not easy on tools...

Can't count the number of times I've dropped my Makita grinder on the garage floor. Still as good as the day I bought it.

I just got the Milwaukee for $50 via a link posted here. It is a great angle grinder and highly recommended even at $100. It's got tons of power, and feels built like a tank. If it's anything like my other Milwaukee tools, my grand kids will be still using it in 50 years. They are the best power tools.

I also have a Makita. It's OK, not as powerful, but it's gotten hard use for 3 years and still works great.

I also have 2 from Harbor Freight. They were $17 each, but they work and come with spare brushes. I consider them disposable.

Angle grinders are close to the most useful tool ever.

Thanks again for rubbing in your $50 milwaukee deal.....I called them and they just about laughed me off the phone several weeks back. I got the feeling that their online error made waves in the company. Didn't you buy two....can I have one?
