Went ahead with the botom of the bib.
Reinforcement made from two pieces that fit over each other positioned, cut line drawn and cut to size.

Welded together and cleaned up.

Now I have to get my bead roller dies and sprockets and chain for the bead roller so I can finish the front lower part of the bib.

To know everything fits I needed the fender in position.
Started taking it appart earlyer and got some of the dents out.
Went a little further this time, looks like it can be saved.

After some hammering, cutting, grinding and bending........

The shape is just a bend for the bottum and then hand forming until it is close enough.

It actualy starts to look like a fender again.

Just curious, are you using weld through primer or something on the seams b4 you weld them up?
With overlap steel yes.
I plan on brazing the seams to close it up.
 
Once again I'm impressed Michael. Everyone else would have scrapped those fenders and opened their cheque book to buy new ones.

Here new ones require more work to make them fit. There is not a big aftermarket scene here as on your side of the pont. The cost of shipping would be killing.
I looked at buying 2 Metal Tech cages a few years ago and shipping was more than the cages. It is cheaper to buy the tooling and materials.

And I really like to do this, its fun to see how far I can take this and keep the tooling at he end.

Although, I might have to look for a bigger space soon.:hmm:

Like Bikersmurf said, these are straight forward cars, the sheet metal has a few difficult curves but most is straight bends and flat steel.

Inside fender drilled off the brace, there was no corrosion on the inside fender, the brace had only minor corrosion.

I'm using these as a template for the rollers.
I will shape them in the lathe at work if I can find the time this week.
They are to create the edge on the lower part of the bib that I need to replace.
 
Cutting away all the bad.
I'm going to cut just below the curve and remove the top of the rear fender.

The rear has ro be replaced, the inside rail is bend from the crash and needs to be straitened.
