I went with aluminum as I live in the north east and want to limit the parts that can rust. What do you plan to mount to the molle?
Just 1st aid a flashlight and probably a knife for now. I may add more later though.

This evening I got busy and installed the passenger side gull-wing. I would have done both sides today, but my day was unexpectedly spent on fixing leaking pipes and cleaning up a flooded basement.

The install was surprisingly simple once I figured out that opening one of the sliding windows made it easier to start the seal removal process. Took me about 5-10 mins to get the window out. Removing the glass was very simple. The modification to the window frame was also very easy, one cut, 4 small holes and 4 small rivets later and I was onto the reinstall. I thought getting the window back in was going to be a chore, but it was actually very easy to do with the plastic trim removal tools I picked up on amazon for about $10.

I should mention that I did the entire install on my tailgate, I found I didn't need to take the frame inside to the bench given the mods were very basic and aluminum is easy to work with.

I am thrilled with the fit and finish of these windows, it is apparent as soon as you open the box that Frank has put a tremendous amount of thought and engineering into this product...even the packaging was engineered with numbers indicating where each piece goes. Along with the product cones a nice hand written personal note and some yodateq swag...nice touch.

Sorry for the not so great photos, it was getting dark when I was finishing. I will get some better ones when I install the drivers side.

Got the drivers side installed this evening. Since my Puma compressor is mounted on the drivers side, it made working the lower portion of the rubber seal a little more challenging, but was able to do it without moving the puma.

Very happy with the result, getting into my fridge is so much easier now.

So now there are a few sets of these out there, can anyone who actually has them comment on the actual ease of access to stuff inside the truck? I think the design and workmanship looks top-notch, but it seems like it would be difficult to actually reach much of anything inside the truck, particularly if the truck is lifted much? Any truth to this? For me the molle panels are attractive for that reason because it keeps stuff "right there" where you need it.

I have a custom drawer system in the back, with the fridge and puma compressor on the drivers side. The gull-wing makes getting to the fridge, puma and anything stored between the fridge and window very easy to access. The fridge is sitting 7" above the floor. I keep my compressor hose, air guage and super siphon under the drivers side drawer wing, which sits at floor level, I have no issue reaching those through the window.

On the passenger side my drawer system sits 12" above the floor. At that height I can reach everything stored on top through the gull-wing. I can also get my axe, tarp and spare motor oil out from under the passenger side drawer wing very easily. Getting my axe out used to be a bit of a chore, through the window its simple.

For reference, my cruiser has OME Comp 5" springs and 315's. With all the weight I have added the springs sit more like an unloaded 4" spring.

Thanks. How tall are you?

I am 5'10"...maybe 5'11" depending on who is measuring ;) I made a short review video, I will post it up a little later.

Apologies for the sub-par video...this is the first one I have made with a go pro and I had the water proof case on which muffles the sound.

No worries Frank.

I just got back from a 2000 mile road trip though 7 states (NJ, PA, MD, WV, VA, TN, KY). I had a loaded truck, wife, mother, brother, baby and myself. Traveling with a baby and 4 adults means a lot of gear and frequent access to that gear is required. These Gullwings were so awesome during the road trip, getting into the fridge is so simple and quick now. The wings are great for getting the bags out the passenger side or just to help arrange the gear from a more comfortable position. If I get another 80 (considering it) the first mod on my list is gull wings...these rock!!!

So, my wife won't let me get these. When we have the extra kids we need the third row going to the mountains.
Her argument is, they want the windows because it gets stuffy.

How removable are these? Either removing them at the trail, or swapping in the windows before the trip?

I already have to remove the drawers and move that gear to the roof rack. When I need the third row.

Really, I need a 100 for when the kids are around, so I can keep the 80 for the immediate camping family...

These aren't designed to be popped in and out. The aluminum window frame is modified during the install which prevents you swapping back to glass. I suppose you could get and extra aluminum window frame so you could have both your windows and your gull-wings, but it would still take some effort to pull and replace the window. I think you need another vehicle for hauling the kids around...keep the 80 setup for 5 people and gear in the back.

There was a question regarding access with the Gull Wing Hatch System

My wife and daughter (about 5' tall) use a folding step stool you can pick up at any camping supply store >>>LINK<<< for under $15

Weighs about 2½lbs and it stores easily inside the wings above the wheel well

Here is a pic of my daughter accessing our ARB Frig using her step stool

No problem...Ship that baby over here and let me get started. Contact me via PM or email to work out the logistics and pricing

I used that same folding stool but drilled a hole in one corner and tied a piece of rope to it with a loop on the end .

My wife uses it to climb into the cruiser while holding onto the loop. That way once in her seat she can hoist the stool up into the truck.

Works great

Great idea, I love it!!! Will have to make one up for my wife for the 80 on 37s. Thanks for sharing.

Really liking this Frank. mmmmmm better start saving for this. Good stuff man.

THANKS! Let me know when you're ready and I'll build you a set.
