Aloha Folks,

So I was test fitting my Real Steel Bows in preparation for a TrollHole Top to get here but I ran into a bit of a snag.

The "B-Pillar" bow (front-most) sits almost 3" higher than the rear-most. It seems fully seated in the body panel, hitting the inner stop. I did some searching for dimensions and stumbled on a pretty old thread that had some dimensions from an OEM set, compared with that my front bow is indeed about 3" longer.

My question is for anyone that has a set from Real Steel or knows of the dimensions, what is your measured height of the "B-Pillar"? Should I just cut it to length or am I doing something wrong...

Thanks

*Edit* Just wanted to add that I had to re-drill holes for the joining bolt on the "B-Pillar" bow because they didn't line up at all. Not that it matters really, just doesn't speak well for QA.

The bow should be level (same height ) as the rear bow

Real steel b pillar bows are separated ... Oem is welded in place

The bolt on the inside of the b piller should be backed all the way out them the bow should slide down ... The bolt is a lock to hold the bow/hard top post

If you are saying it is bottoming out after the bolt... You will need to cut down the bow to the correct height... All this if I were you .... Would wait for the canvas to make sure you are correct and everything lines up

I have not owned a real steel bow... From observation and prior mudders problems... But... They are the only bows to be had... Sooooo... It's a minor thing when little snags come along LOL

Pics?

The B pillar pieces are adjustable so move them so they allow the B pillar bow to sit lower in the body. Make sure the set screw is back out enough. The rear bow should measure 1,200 mm from the rear bed to the bottom of the bow. Adjust the front and middle bow so it's level with the rear.

No I have the door surrounds (B-Pillar) loose, they can move up and down on the bow. The bow itself is bottoming out inside door frame bit after its mounted. Inside, it looks like theres a stop that is mounted from the factory, which is what the bow is bottoming out on.

I was wondering about the measurements so that I can determine what is the fault, if my bow is to long, or something is goobered up with the stops inside the door frame.

Unless of course the bow is actually supposed to continue through the thing I call a "stop"...

Test fitted with just one side, went to desired height.... guess that's not a stop after all, just need to finagle it into the hole (giggety).

Thanks though... now I know the upper bolt in the door frame is meant as a limiter.

I had the same issue. You do have to move and play with the posts a bit to get them to go through the stop your talking about. The stops you are talking about have holes in them to help keep the post straight from bottom to top. Do Not Cut!

Best of luck!

Glad to see you got it figured out. Let's see some pics.

yes would love to see pictures and hear how the Trollhole top is doing (fit, ease of use, etc.)

about to pull the trigger on both bows and top and would love feedback.

(I know Marshall is a stand up guy....just haven't heard anything on the new tops he is doing)

No problem guys, top should be in on Thursday, hopefully I'll have it on by Friday. I'll make a new thread and post up photos then... just a warning, she's not even close to being finished and she's not very pretty haha.

Would be interested in those pics. Just got mine in.

Adrift here is the cross member shot of above the door where it meets the windshield frame. I think I'm going to have to trim mine as it's a sharp edge.

Any updates on yours?

Mock up....waiting on paint

Overall I am very impressed with real steel. Todd ogino got my bows to my door in 48 hours. They were packaged well and seem to be good quality ( less my concern with the 2 pics above).

I have a trollhole top coming in the next week or so. Plan is to get some Napa color match aerosol cans for the bows, drill needed holes for bow feet tie in to frame, put on footman loops, etc and then test fit top when it arrives.

Boston they aren't seated fully in b pillar yet.....on top of the screw that will hold them in Lu's camera angle. I'm waiting on top to test fit everything before paint, footman loops etc.

You have any pics of the windshield attachment channel with material on it?
