How long will this rattle can paint last fully exposed to the sun? I decided to let my 13 year old daughter test her artistic abilities on some interior parts (Roll bar, seat frames, misc trim) and I really like the way it came out. I prepped and primed the parts and she designed the pattern with some local plants. The paint is 1 coat of Rustoleum camo as a base coat with 3 other colors added here and there (not complete coats) and then 2 coats of clear. I'm hoping it will last at least a year. What do you think?

Decided to add a pic of the camo painting princess reaping the rewards of her hard work

depends on how you preped it

Prep was wire wheel and die grinder on the rust spots and bad paint areas, sanded all painted areas to rough up and washed/dried surfaces prior to 2 coats of primer.

My 5 year old son has been wearing me out to paint the cruiser since we knocked the body off of it at Round Up last year. Sunday we rattle canned Dark hunter Green back on the 76...real close to original...said I would never do that, but kids have a way of talking you into things. From 20 ft it looks real good...I masked, He painted.

If it wasn't for the few spots, my one year rustoleum paint job (almost Royal Blue) would be 100% intact. Besides, if you run it on tight trails, it will get scratched. Nothing beats rattle can scratch repair, if you choose to repair at all! :D

It may fade a little. tell your girl great job.

Thanks to all for the positive responses. If it holds up, I might let her do the exterior. Here's a few more pics and a couple before shots.

Will waxing extend the life of the paint?

Well I'm planning to paint the outside now and ran across this old post of the interior. 2yrs and still looks real good. Just thought I'd update.:)

under seat box

Where did you get that storage box under the driver's seat? And also want to know about the $ of the line-x.
camo looks good

I believe the Line x was around $700. Very very tough stuff. Turns a beer can into something you can't crush.

The box under the seat? I always thought it was stock. It was welded into the floor and looked factory. I'd like to know now as well.

yes it is stock on the older models. My 68 has it. Jack and tools go in it.
