At a charity event couple weekends back everyone was saying 38's look so much bigger than 37's. I think they look just right on an 80 especially with JDM wheels.

The WedsSport weigh in at 24lbs while not being true forged like Volk TE's(21lbs for 18's). These are even lighter than some true forged American offerings like the KMC forged Mesa wheels that are 17". Forged Wilwood calipers and 14" 2pc rotors with aluminum hats are also significantly lighter than stock. Not that the weight savings make up for all of the extra weight with bigger tires... :rolleyes:

looks BA. How are you not rubbing with stock factory rear bumper and mud flaps?
Whole setup is all new and haven't fully cycled the suspension yet. Have a few things to do on my two other vehicles, and once that's done I'll start cutting into this one. Keeping the flares since I don't like the flareless look so we'll see what that gets me. But currently front axle is moved forward just about 30mm. No rubbing driving around in a small'ish mountain town in BC.

I am a BIG fan of 80s with factory flares! Great job!

If you intend to go off road you have a lot of work ahead of you to make those tire work. Or really big bump stop extensions !
To do it right one would have to remove the spring to fully cycle the suspension.

That's the plan. Fully prepared to clearance out the fenders. Trying to get a good amount of uptravel, so ideally not doing bumpstop extensions.

With 38s you will most likely need small bump stop extensions.
You can gut your flares and keep them.
You can check out my build thread to see what I did to make 39s work on a low lift.

Do those brakes not fit 17s? It'd look crazier with more sidewall. I'd love to go 13.5s.

I've designed them to fit most 17's, just depends on barrel design and as long as you don't go too deep dish. High negative offset with flat face like the KMC Terra -38, Black Rhino Aliso/Guide -38 will not clear.

When WedsSport came out with the TC105X WRV for the 4x4 world, I knew I wanted them. Not a lot of 38's in 17's anyways, but I think some tire manufacturers are catching on. Currently only Nitto Ridge and Trail Grapplers, and Milestar Patagonia MT. There's some Falken WIldpeak MT's I've seen floating around, but never officially announced from what I can tell.

That pupper makes the 38’s look like 33’s. 😂

If you recall, we've had this exchange in another thread. For some reason, I didn't put 2 & 2 2gether (brakes + your 80).

I can appreciate another dude having wheel fetish down to the specific brand and model. I'm personally not a fan of either your Weds (convex) and TEs (convex), but do consider the Work VS-XX/Brombacher to be the best looking JDM wheel design of all time, though it's a copy of the BBS Y spokes which is pure motorsport. I've run BBS LMs, RG-Rs, and now FI-Rs and then some. Fikses, Forgelines, OZs plus more across a plethora of 911s and BMW M cars.

Back to LCs, I personally think that 37s with a 2-3" lift are at the limit of what the 80 series can reasonably accommodate before some major ride quality concessions. I've ridden in 80s where the owner says it's smooth as butter when in my opinion, it simply falls well short. So my ideal aesthetically appealing tire size for my daily driven LA jungle 80 is a 37x13.5R17, but I'll for sure need to bend some metal and maybe add another inch of height to clear that extra inch of width which I simply don't have the desire to take on right now, if ever. My 80 is just too dialed in atm where I know I can see myself regretting any changes to it immediately.

The only thing I'd really like improved is braking performance. I'm totally content with my 1FZ-FE stock.

P.S. Your 80 is a neck breaker for me!

Ah yeah I recall that convo in my BBK thread.

I think we both have appreciation for higher end wheels. Tastes might differ a slightly, but for the most part we know what we like. Those Work's are killer. They make some beautiful multipiece wheels, some of my favorite. Was speaking about TE and TC105 from a popularity standpoint on performance wheels. I actually much prefer the ZE40 over TE's. I probably have a thing for 10 spoke wheels...
 
How did you get the center caps to fit? I have the same wheel and with full float front and rear, there was no way to get them to fit. Can you post close up pics of the wheels? I may have the wrong caps for mine.
