Bumping this thread.

Another super satisfied 62 owner after doing this gasket replacement mod.

Took me roughly 1.5 hrs and made it a breeze by using WD40 and bicycle tire levers.

Was getting dark/cold and didnt get a chance to do the windshield but going to start that one tomorrow. Also have to remove the chrome around the door windows and sand/paint the bottom trim piece as I keep reading if removed, will cause leaking issues with the doors.

Got an extra package

Got a extra package of the stuff in Dallas if anyone needs it.

Damn, this thread is STILL getting resurrected. I'm going to have to get some of this stuff so I can pull out and replace my lift gate window. I'm working on a washer nozzle relocation that'll take a little welding on the sheet metal and I'd like to pull the glass out for it, then put it back in so I can take the truck to a shop and have the lift gate repainted.

suueeet, I'll drop you a PM when I get back to the states if I'm able to tackle this project.

Verification Please

After reading this whole thread, I've come to the conclusion there are different measurements, part numbers, suppliers.
Can someone fill me in on the specifics below:

Are the door's black, rubber filler the same size/part # as the rear windows and rear hatch?

What is the diameter of the rubber, 9mm or 7mm?

Is the 'D' shape the way to go on ALL windows? (instead of the stubby 'w' shape)

Thanks in advance.

This is only a partial answer to your question but I just went through a round of ordering the lockstrip from PRP, receiving the wrong one, shipping it back for the right one. The issue is there are two profiles that have the WLS466 part number. One is a GM profile (wide ears) and one is the Toyota profile (D shape w thin ears). The trick to getting the right part is to be very clear which one you are ordering when you talk to PRP.

I am under the impression from reading this thread that all 4 windows take the same lockstrip. I hope this is the case because I now have 100' of it.

Please post results. I will be ordering new lockstrip after the paintjob and headliner install. Unfortunatley my front windshield broke in the removal process and the entire rubber gasket was destoyed. The windshield installer that did the job 10 years ago put silicone around the entire rubber and window making the removal a pain.

Thank you

Correct! I just called Flexline in San Antonio and they referenced DW-848CRV which is the WRONG, flat 'w' lockstrip. I showed them a pic of the correct one from this thread and told me i needed to order DW-848GBF, which is the gasket.....now I'm really confused. Do i need the lockstrip or gasket??? I'm just replacing the chrome piece, not the whole rubber surrounding it. Here's is what they sent me:

"We recommend you get the DW-848GBF, and the locking strip. Here is a full description, it is as follows:
Chevrolet Blaze, Jimmy, Suburban, C,K & R,V Series Pickup 73-91'
LockStrip 466

DW-848GBF= $ 15.78
DW-848BK LOCKSTRIP= $ 2.70
+SHIPPING COST "

does anyone have a resource to get the locking strip, seems precision parts wants a business name if you go to there site, lot of talk about this but no defiant answer, does anyone have any left over and want to sell?

actually got hold of precision parts and talked to Darrel ,i have 100 ' on its way ,thanks

2sun62, how much is some left over? if its enough for the windows pm me i iwill pick it up from you.

PRP is out until the end of June. Anyone have any left over? I need to do the rear tailgate.

Ditto here. Still gotta do something about the liftgate and get a new windshield gasket that uses a lockstrip. I think the non-lockstrip windshield gasket is causing alot of my leakage around the A pillars.

where is precision parts located? i would like to buy some as well.

I just found this thread. In the nick of time. I replaced side and rear and front windows and the chrome was destroyed in the process. I am trying to black out my cruiser as well, this thread has it all!
Here is the link for precision: Precision Replacement Parts - Welcome for 'jpeg'. I guess you could sign in and find out where they are. I never thought of powder coating my door handles. I found this paint advertised on "Gearz" tv show, Dupli-Color :: Shadow. It seems to work well, I put it in as a painting option as opposed to powdercoating.

I'm getting there, no pics until I get my new tires/rims/bumper/winch/lights/flares installed.
Since I won't be home for another 4-6 weeks, its not going to happen until then. Sorry, no one is
as anxious to gt this done as I am!

Bringing up an old thread. Does anyone have some of this welt left over from their order that they're willing to part with? I ended up losing my welt before I got it installed and now I have a new windshield without a welt:doh:

Ok, I was trying to avoid it, but I have gotten set up with this company to bring in rolls of the lock strip.
I keep getting too many questions about it. :p

I'll have a big roll of it here to chop bits off as needed, will post up when it is all set to go.
