One more question. Are the chrome bits thin and peel off with a screw driver? Whats the easiest method?
Thanks again.

Yes, they are very thin, and even if you are very careful, you will most likely bend them, so make sure you really want to remove them permanently before you start taking them off. The paint underneath them will be a little rough. I took mine off right before I had my rig repainted, so it was not an issue for me, but you should plan on either polishing things up under the chrome strips, or plan on repainting.

Good to know, Thank you.

i put the gasket on two side back windows but was not able to put the same gasket on the windshield and back window? is that right? the gap seems alot smaller?

The two ends of the truck have tighter seals, but the same welt will work. It becomes absolutely necessary to lube the seals with spray silicone to make them slide in though.
I like the concept of tighter seals on the windshield and the lift gate, they are the two places that get the most abuse.

So you just hit the welt with spray silicone? I tried installing the welt I got with soapy water an it didn't work at all. I bought enough for the whole truck so I'm pumped. I do need to get in there with a grinder and take out some rust though.

Basically, just DO NOT do it over a floor that you work on, you will fall.

A bucket works great, dump all the stuff in there and spray them with the silicone.
It makes a bit of a mess but I go around the window with a quick squirt of the spray as well, cleans off pretty easy.

Alright, I've gotta go pick some of this stuff up.

So when should I stop by? I gotta show you my truck and I've gotta give you the Matchmaker back.

Got the package tonight and it is..... The wrong strip. F#$#$K... Only asked 5 times to make sure that it was the D shaped and not the more W shaped one.

Now to have to deal with shipping it back etc.

There is a mix up with the part number and they are checking into to manufacturer to see what the deal is. Customer service has been very good on their end and so we will see what the deal is in a couple of days- Derrik is the man I am dealing with and had to log him on to the web site to show him the difference in the lockstrip pictures that people are getting. If you are ordering some anytime soon ask for him as he now is an "expert" on Land Cruisers!

That's great, too bad about the mix up, but I'm glad they're sorting it out.
If the local glass shops aren't able to help out, this seems to be the best (if not only) option.

I've been lax on getting it sorted out, too much other stuff to sort out (you guys are very demanding....:p) I got as far as the registration.

It sounds like you've really done the leg work with the identification though, what I'll do is call up and ask for this Derrik fellow to see what we can sort out for larger quantities.

I have not found a local glass shop that didn't ask me if I was high when asking about it! Around here they have no clue what lock strip, trim strip etc is and when I show it to them they say huh.... never seen that! Except for the guy who had to come back a glue/chaulk the windshield gasket-Non OEM and it leaked- He knew what it was but no idea how to get it.

I post more when I hear more..

Derrik got back to me today- he found out that the 100 ft roll that i got is the right part... for a GM or whatever. But he is sending me the correct parts- no longer is the 100 ft the way to go, we need to order 3 12ft rolls.

His number is 360-805-0707

Important to tell him-PART Number WLS466 AND LOT Number 09102711.

If I get the wrong stuff again I will let yall know.

Great customer service on their end!

windshield gasket

I had a windshield replaced with new rubber at a local shop in Prescott. The glass man told me it was hard to save the chromn and I ask him if there was an alternative? He installed a new one that didn't require the welting like a 40.

I got a new windshield gasket rubber without the chrome, it leaked but they, safeglass, can back and fixed it. It was leaking from the bottom corners.

The new window lock stip came in from percision-it looks like it is the real deal- wont know till I get my truck back in a few weeks when I can put it in

Can anyone order from that site or do you have to have a business account ?

I am interested in getting the necessary gasket to do this "upgrade" but do not have a business account if needed to order from them...

Nevermind.

I gave Derrick a call (ext 226). He set me up using the Part/Lot #'s mentioned above and ordered 3/12ft rolls.

Came out to roughly $40

Greatness

Ordered and installed on the windshield. Looks great.

WLS: 466
