Damn. That sucks. I know it's great to walk away and all, but I'd be pissed beyond belief....

So glad to hear everyone is ok! It's sad about the truck but at least no one was hurt.

Thanks for the props. Not sure on the insurance outcome, but truck saved our lives and I can't let it go to a salvage yard. Its at home in my shop now with a car cover. Thanks Treeroot for doing that by the way.

Gary..... so very sorry to see this. So much time and effort that you didnt get the chance to enjoy.
But as others have said, its most important the daughter, your pup, and yourself escaped major injury.

WHOA!!!

Cruisers can be replaced (Well, sort of...), but human lives can't be.

It's a shame, but glad you guys are OK!

DAMN Dude!!!! Glad y'all are ok!!!!

I glad you're all OK! Beautiful and well thought out build.

I know it's early and the trauma is fresh but now the ugly starts. Insurance companies play hardball sometimes with this type of loss. Their estimating guidelines don't have vehicles like this in them. so they get confused and sometimes want to dig their heels in. When the time comes, you will need to gather the receipts, figure the hours you have in her, show them the pictures, links to build threads and stand your ground.

Did you have updated insurance coverage on your end? If you did, it makes things easier as you collect from your company and they subrogate later.

I know it's too soon to think about all this, but consider an attorney if you get screwed around with.

Sorry,

Doug

Gadzooks...I also gasped upon seeing this...So glad you guys are okay. Makes the sadness so much more palpable to know what I'm looking at with it on it's top. Knowing that a 62 doesn't have lower control arms normally....It will now be known as Jimi Hendrix....died way before it was supposed to. Told yah you should have gone with those Gold colored TRD rims (on RS I think)....that would have prevented this.

But seriously, most important thing is that you, your daughter and your pooch are okay. To be honest I'd be a little ticked at the other driver, not because he doesn't have the right to be old and a little "forgetful" or panic-y...but because it sounds like he really shouldn't be on the road.

New body (and 100's of man hours) and you'll be good to go.

Put this body on it:

Glad you and yours are OK.

I'm only slightly less crushed than X2. This is my all-time favorite build on MUD. I've dreamed of driving, duplicating, and even owning X2. When the time is right, please, please, please get that beast back on the road and/or trail. I wish I had some 62 parts to send to you!

holy crap Gary! glad you guys are ok. reminds me of Gene wrecking his 45LV and walking away.......

fingers crossed that you can replace the body and keep the rig alive.

just stoked nobody got hurt .......

:frown:

The short answer is that nothing is worth a life...so unbelievably happy to hear that everyone was ok.

Cruel twist to lose it on its first day out. Some day I might change my stance...but I think you should have to take periodic driving tests when you reach a certain age...too many want to hold onto the freedom of the road and ignore the warning signs. Guardian angel was definitely riding with you today. Looking at that picture makes me sick imagining the outcome for the occupants....amazed you walked away.

Glad all are safe and that the truck did its job. Trucks can be fixed. Make it so.

Glad everyone is safe and unharmed...lives are priceless.

Something like this is everyone's worst fear, probably tossed away is some corner of ourselves, hoping to never materialize. I know I try not to think in terms of what if's, and I am truly sorry for it to end like it did. I think for some, it's the journey and not the destination. You will always have one bad ass, one-of-a kind cruiser, which very very few people could of pulled off.
