It’s been a minute since I’ve posted on the build. Been gathering parts and cleaning up the frame

What are your thoughts on that 4 runner frame, it looks darn near a perfect fit after you trim the rear length. Does it seem like body mounts will be reasonable to make work?

I love it. Body mounts are gonna be close to the frame. I think it will work out perfectly. The rear frame will definitely need cut off and the rear bumper from the 40 fits on the frame perfect also.

Been awhile since my last post. I have been working on my son’s daily driver. Also working on the powder coat oven.

I have gotten my motor mounts squared up and tacked into place. Working on the lower links and their front crossmember.

Got the lower links mocked up and the panhard bar also mocked up

So with the new frame, I’m trying to figure out ride height.
It has a 98 4Runner frame, Dana60 front axle, Sterling 10.5 rear, Atlas, 3-link front, double trianglated rear, 17” rims with 40’s, and King 2.0 16” coilovers

I’d wonder if your height under the center would be very close to a stock Cruiser frame. Mine is setting around 21-22 inches. I’d love it to be 19-20 inches but I ran out of room with my front fenders. Given my height it is very stable on the road around corners.

UPDATE: I am at 24” of frame height under the doors with 40” tires at ride height.

Do you start with coilover uptravel (exposed rod length)? Or do you decide ride height and make the coil fit?

Centerline of the axle is 20” theoretically but will be more like 18”, and if you can mount the lower end of coil even with centerline of axle, plus say 5” of rod showing, the top of the coil will be 31” above center of axle. Plus the 18” puts top of coil at 49” high. Hood or fender will be above that (or tub will be that high).
Match all the body lines/mounts and that would dictate ride height, right? Or did I do it wrong?

I know on mine I have worked really hard to get it low enough to step in without a ladder, and high enough to be a respectable wheeler. We’ll see how the compromise works…

Center of axle will be dictated by the size of tire . Not a chance you are getting 16 inch coilover in Under the hood 14 is doable . FWIW i run 12s

I thought 16 would be tough as well. I’m 12 up front and 14 back.
He said he had 40” tires so that’s where I came up with 18” to cl, and that’s if the tire is true to size at all.

I was setup for 16” shocks on the front with 5” of up travel. I lowered my shock mounts and switched to 14” coilovers due to availability at the time and I am glad that I did. My current down travel is more than adequate for me.

Being my Project is a 3rd gen 4runner I have the same frameish (it's been altered so much at this point) with 16" king 2.5 coilovers in the front and rear with a full body (my body is still the 4runner so not sure any of my feedback will help you). To keep a low CG and have good up travel about 6", I cut the front of the frame off and raised said roughly 3.5" where my over sized front Tundra 10.5" SAS sits, so it can use all the travel. Frame is at about 21". Atlas, double triangulated 4-link front and rear, 17” rims with 35’s, full hydro steering (And yes I can drive on the hwy and interstate at normal speed safely for hrs at a time). I had to cut holes in my hood to fit the coilovers.

Think I’ll be close to 21” on my front crossmember

need to find out what that will measure with the 40" tires aired down. Should drop it to around 18-19" at maybe 8psi in the tires

Not a lot going on with Stretch. Been busy on trying to figure out my plasma table problems, son’s truck, and working on the powder coat oven. Got the oven moved around enough to get a picture of Stretch.

Made some wall art awhile back

Is wall art for sale, thats a nice piece ?
It can be. That was a first draft of it. The new design is much better. I also have one drawn out of a Fj60.
