Let's see if uploading photos works from my ipad... Got the sub tank switch and boost and EGT gauges wired up. I'm pretty happy with how the gauges turned out!

looks good - who knew that dashes could be re-assembled

What gauges are those? looks nice.

Auber by the look.

A company that is awesome to deal with, right up until they send you broken old junk and accuse you of stealing when you return it....looooong story.

Still too pissed off at them to ever buy anything from them. Which is a shame, they are nice gauges.

Still have a 24v pyro from them in a drawer if anyone needs one.

Great job on truck, amazing how much better the interior looks with a proper gear shift in there.

What functionsd are you monitoring, and could you tell me, pm or what gauges/sensors/cables etc you ordered? I like that style and the prices appear pretty good. Seriously considering that same approach, just don't need a boost gauge as I already have one.
I've emailed auber asking if these would work for a tranny temp gauge.

My one on the left is EGT and right is boost. The gauges themselves are the same... they have a bunch of connections on the back for different types of sensors. I know you can do boost, MAF, temperature, oil pressure, etc, etc, etc. The menu interface to program the gauge is not the most user friendly, but once you get it set up the way you want, you can just leave it. They come set for EGT in fahrenheit, so I reprogrammed mine to read in Celsius, and the other I had to set to use the other input for boost pressure.

If you look at the sensors they sell, there are 5 options for temperature. You'd just need to figure out which one will work best to plumb into your tranny fluid system.

I already had one green gauge for EGT, so I ordered my boost one to match. But if I had to do it again, I kind of wish I had red for EGT and blue for boost... Oh well... details. Honestly I'd prefer analogue gauges but there just isn't a clean way to install them on these trucks. When I had a Pajero I replaced the broken compass and altimeter with analogue EGT/boost gauges and they looked very nice...

Thanks.

Their quick response re: tranny temperature gauge

Hi, Jeff,

Thanks for your interest in our products. We have several gauges are suitable for this application. For the gauge, you can use either SYL-1612B(PID controller powered by 12V, but you can use it as a temp monitor), SYL1812RA(gauge with analog output), or SYL-1813(gauge for temperature and pressure sensor). SYL-1813 is the most popular one for automobile. It offer several different colors.

You can use a water/oil temperature sensor to measure the transmission temperature. You can you one of these two probes:

I temporarily crimped the necessary wires together to get all the circuits working... drove like this for a couple days, but finally got around to tidying it all up! All circuits are working including cruise control and the glow plug timer!

Next up is A/C... gotta get some lines modified to relocate the receiver/dryer up by the battery, JDM style, and make the compressor work in its new location... I have also been working on making a way to fit a York compressor in addition to the stock A/C compressor...

You make the York fit and you will make LOTS of friends :)

Myself included! Lol

Nice work man. Glad to hear it drives now and everything has come together so well. Can't wait to see the truck. Will you have it at the next club meeting?

Of course!

Today I got the JDM swing-out swapped so my spare tire is back outside to make room for a Tofino trip this weekend :)

Right on, I'll have to make sure I make this meeting. Missed the last couple for various reasons.

Are you going to be towing your Trillium on the Tofino trip? If so I'll be interested to hear how it compares to towing with the 1fzfe.

Second fill-up... drum roll please... 9.15 L/100 km. Or 30.87 MPG (imperial).

Woah. Better than my 3B. might have something to do with aerodynamics and/or power to weight ratio! LOL.

Good work man.

So you still cruisin at 80kph?

Oh yeah, we had it up to 110 at one point..... screaming at about 3000 rpm. Higher gears will be nice, but they are backordered right now.

Out of curiosity what is your tire correction you used for your calculation.
Even with my 255s I only get a 2-3% increase according to my GPS at 100km/h
Did you end up playing with your boost comp?

Kinda curious how you got to 9.15 also, even with a stock truck unless u drive at 60k on flat road your not getting that....

Recently got 10.7 on a trip going 100km/h up and down hills with a bunch of s*** in the back....

No correction. I have the stock Michelins, and according to my GPS my speedometer is dead accurate at 80 km/h. Also passed one of those radar thingies on the highway on the way up, and it agreed that my speedometer is dead accurate at 80.

Boost maxes out at about 10.5 psi. A few months ago I followed the LCOOL instructions on tuning it... can't really remember what I did... more trying to reduce smoke. Didn't seem to change anything.

I know, before this project our HDJ81 was getting an average of 13.09 L/100 km, with 285/75R16 Duratracs and a 3 inch lift. So the only changes are
-no lift
-275/70R16 Michelin LTX tires
-part-time 4wd
-manual tranny

edit: plus 0.000001% less wind resistance from having no flares :)
