Hello everybody,

As some of you are aware I was recently contemplating the purchase of 3 FJ60s, two are 1983 and one is 1981. One runs, but needs the carburetor tuned, which I'm going to work on tomorrow. The frame on the running 60, is in great shape the interior is as well in good shape. Today we pulled the doors, seats and hood. I replaced the spark plugs and changed the oil and fired it up again. It does not stay running unless the throttle is being babied which leads me to believe it needs tuned. Here are the beginning pictures. Sorry it is only of the one we worked on. I'll put pictures up of the other two tomorrow after I take some.

Some of you may be wondering on the title, well it is going to take parts from all three of the 60's to get one complete 60. When we have one complete 60 we have decided to paint it purple. My wife wants to be involved as she can, and turned wrenches with me today, and is looking forward getting the beast running solid tomorrow. Im shooting to have the body off by weeks end. Enjoy the photos and stay tuned!!

on the not idling issue, check the idle cutoff on the carb. could also be a vacumn leak.

need more pics.

of wife!:flipoff2:

good luck with the project and nice to have the wife involved.

Well, you didn't say the :princess: was going to be helping. That is what? 90%
of the decision, right? Have fun, I look forward to this build. Purple?

I think a deep purple would look pretty sweet.

Looking forward to more pics!

I'd be so happy if I had three FJ60's!

Cruiserpilot, It is fantastic having the wife on board. She is talking much more niceities than im thinking. In my mind, im thinking offroad rig, which is why I pitched the idea. Now we have them she is helping pull everything apart, and wants to make it a DD/Wheeling rig. So it could go anywhere, and yes purple! We kind of like the deep purple and blues, or a color we like to call BLURPLE!

Kline, it will be a fairly deep purple. And we are purdy happy to have the three, but im still saddened that one couldn't have a much better body. OH WELL!! Thats why I have three!

Do you have pics of the 2 others? And that's great that your wife are in this project with you!

Nice score, I think you'll end up with a nice cruiser. And from what I'm seeing, you'll be able to get some return on investment with used parts!

Didn't do a whole lot today, tuned the carb so it would run without babying the throttle, removed the rear seat, the grille, and fenders. Tomorrow I'll start on removing the front clip and pieces attached to it and the wheel wells, then move back inside and start on taking the dash out. Please PM me if you need a part for an FJ60, im saving everything that I can, including plastic trim pieces on the inside. It doesn't hurt to ask if I have it. I will sell certain things I know I won't be needing during the tear down and re-build so please send me PM with requests.

Very cool!

I'm subscribed! The cool thing is I get to watch live sometimes too!

Nice 4Runner in the background.

Liking the progress!

The 4Runner was built to be offload capable. We decided its in too good of shape to continue beating on like I do, and needed a dedicated wheeler. In came Operation Purple Plum. The 4Runner only has 125k on it. So practically brand new!

Hey Foneman your welcome to stop by anytime your in the neighborhood. Next time I'm going to have to ask you dig a hole!!!!!! Hehehehe.

No pictures today, Didn't do a whole lot, other than made the body ready to be removed. I have to cut the exhaust and then off she comes! Then onto the Spring Over and then a good body back on. Worked a bit on pulling the dash out, but then decided why am I pulling this one, im not going to use it. Then un hooked everything else so the cab can be removed! If I can afford the hoist itll happen real soon! Going to pull the front clip and wheel wells off tomorrow, so that way I can clean the frame to the best of my ability and re paint it. Would like to have it dipped and powdered but don't think we'll be able to afford it yet. That's all. More tomorrow.
