Had my Nomad Convoys fitted a few days ago, I'm happy with the look, but since they're 0 offset, they stick out quite a bit. Still have to do some heating with the fender liner since I'm rubbing a bit against that and the passenger side end of the bumper.

Did some research into fender flare options, turns out there aren't many for the 100 Series, it's basically just Kut Snake out there. Here in the US, a set will put you back about $500. However, though dumb luck, I stumbled upon Proffitt's online shop, where they had a "New Old Stock" set listed for just $100. Gave them a call, spoke with Jeremiah, and it turns out that a customer ordered the kit a few years ago to put on their factory offset Hundy, but was talked out of it. Ordered immediately, the price was right and if I change my mind I can probably get that money back by relisting them in the Classifieds.

So I'm thinking about a few things now:
  1. Should I paint them, and if so, what color? There's a slight mismatch between the wheel color and the body color, and it turns out that Lexus Golden Pearl (aka fancy white) is pretty difficult to replicate. I bought an "OEM-matched" paint pen to fix some earlier deep scrapes and it didn't match the body white at all. I know basically nothing about painting so I also have to look into whether I need to use primer and then later some kind of clear coat. The flares are ABS plastic and I've seen some pictures of them painted, makes them look a lot better IMO.
  2. Can I get away with a DIY install? I've never really done anything like this before, but looking through some 80 Series threads here, it doesn't seem like too difficult of a job with an extra hand to hold the flares down while drilling the holes in. I'm comfortable drilling into the body since there's already quite a big hole for the snorkel, which was installed under previous ownership, but I don't know if this is the kind of thing where experience really matters...
Any suggestions/advice/ideas greatly appreciated.

Perfect, I’m 94 no airbags as well. Found one, possibly a line on a second better NOS one. Appreciate the tip and pic!

95 and later had a more square style.
I found a grab bar that was a little tired looking, but not hateful and ordered it...came from UAE. In the meantime, I did hit up another forum member from an old thread several years ago with the install tutorial...found out that he had one left and in very nice shape. Got the nicer US based one and then the one from UAE showed up too. Installed the nicer of the two and couldn't be happier, but I can say that I didn't enjoy cutting up a very nice dash while doing it!

Seems sturdy enough with the OEM mounts already behind the dash...unfortunately they are plastic, but molded in the entire dash skeleton, so still pretty solid.

If anyone is interested in the other bar, I can take pics...would be perfect to wrap in a steering wheel cover material or even just a sports tape if you didn't care that much on aesthetics. :steer:

That looks very clean and awesome!

I'm sure that will come in "handy" too..
Even if it's to tuck a hat or gloves into so they are also "handy" to get to.

Hi folks, I'm looking to do the pinch weld mod and some fender liner adjustment to clear my new tires, but I don't have an angle grinder/sawzall and can't do it at my place - any chance I'd be able to borrow one (and a driveway spot) this weekend? Disclaimer, I've never used one and have never cut anything on my vehicle (this is kinda the point of no return) but I'm reasonably confident that I can get the job done without harming myself.

I'd be more than happy to bring pizza/snacks, help wrench on your project, etc in return.

I might be around on Saturday. Depends if I get back in time from visiting family. I have all the tools to make 40s fit.
Likewise...I have plenty of things to cut your rig into pieces...probably around, but will know for sure later tomorrow or Friday morning. That said, I'm in Annapolis, so a bit of a haul for you. PM me if TT isn't an option...that said, he knows the 100's better than I do!

Hah, I'll put the 40s on if someone can supply the portals... just 33s for now but the offset makes things a bit more tricky.

Great, will let you know how things play out.

Also uncertain of schedule for this weekend, other than I'll be home friday with the kids... but you can borrow an angle grinder and reciprocating saw any time.

99% sure I ended up with an equivalent of that one by chance when I replaced the bent pulley that came on the truck.

It will take a 10-12mm belt, but not the ~16mm OEM.

I found this one from BTB, but am not ready to spend that much on a pulley, or buy a new keyed PS pump just to get the same belt size:

Wide Groove Keyed Pulley for Saginaw Steering Pump Conversion - BTB Products - Land Cruiser Restoration and Parts - https://btbprod.com/product/steering-pump-gm-saginaw-wide-groove-keyed-pulley-fj40-land-cruiser-6-cyl-conversions/

Also thinking I will try just routing around the harmonic balance and PS pulley rather than balancer, water pump, and PS. This should significantly increase the belt wrap, and I would not have to go over the fan to replace the belt.

Well I spent my morning getting ingredients ready for Relic Run 24!
people seemed to like the BBQ Venison Mac 'n Cheese so I have sourced some meat to have for it!

Nice deer. Any other pics of him? How old do you think he was?

Dropped my the PS pump while fitting, damaged both the return line barb, pump reservoir, and bent the pulley.

Finished heater restoration while waiting for parts to come in. I should have taken a picture of how all the bushings and things fit on the adjustment arm- I think I got it mostly correct:

Showed the '76 some love today. Grabbed this bumper from @matzell a few weeks ago. Stripped all the powder coat off and painted it satin nickel. Then threw the 8274 on it and spooled up some rope. Getting longer bolts for the hawse.

Need to make a kit for it... it might sell like hotcakes if you took it down to Relic Run!

Where are the solenoids for the air-lockers?
