I need to have someone drive mine and see if the slop is normal or if i need to tighten something. my first reaction was that it was too much, but the mechanic i took it to said i was just too used to small cars with tight steering.
newp. bone stock running gear wise. Are you lifted? If so did you fix caster?
Unbelievable. I suppose he will be driving it soon![]()
Cool trooper. Ive got a 91 4 door V6 5 speed myself. Don't think I've ever seen inside a LWB 2 door.
specs?
Thanks! Yes, this one is pretty rare, as it is a transition model from the early (1985-87) to late (1988-1991) Trooper II. Isuzu imported a good number of 86-87 2-door LWB (104") models with the 4ZD1 (2.3L carbureted inline 4-cylinder) and Isuzu 10-bolt rear axle. 1988 was the transition year model to the 4ZE1 (2.6L EFI 4-cylinder, 120hp) and Isuzu 12-bolt rear axle (larger R/P, larger axleshaft diameter, and disc brakes). It has 4.56:1 R/P gear ratio, and the TC ratio is 2.3:1.
This truck is an early LWB body with the latter 4ZE1 and 12-bolt. Data tag says it was built in October, 1987 (and sold as a 1988 model). I've searched the 'web to try and find production and import data for this specific (LWB/2-door/4ZE1) model, but cannot find much. The best info comes from a forum called "PlanetIsuzoo" where the Isuzu Guru, Jerry Lemond (Isuzu North America lead tech instructor back in the day) says there were 300,000 Trooper II's imported between 1984-1991. He says there were about 45,000 annually thereafter.
In 1989, Isuzu introduced the Trooper II RS, a 2-door short wheelbase model (90"). It had the same drivetrain except it got 4.77:1 R/P. The RS model carried over into the early years of 2nd Generation production (1992-93, IIRC).
Trying to get back to this:

Not Tucson... Although with all the rain, the sun would be nice... Just putting the top back on the FJ 40 for the fall and winter.
I need some help putting the top back on my FJ 40. My Girlfriend and I tried with the help of our neighbor last weekend, but it did not work out... two females and me trying to lift it up and onto the vehicle was a no-go from the start. Rather than create more of a problem we scooted the top back in to the garage and now I'm asking for help. There is also the issue with remounting the doors. They were taken off at the door frame because the hinge pins wouldn't budge. And we all know about that b***h bolt at the top of the hinge.
Julie, my girlfriend, and I will make it worth your while. We plan to have Rocklands Barbecue delivered and plenty of adult beverages. This includes a collection of nice whiskeys for the rugged aficionados (Looking at you Jeff) and some cigars. Our place is right off of the GW Parkway close to the Potomac, maybe we could do a "Land Cruiser Cruise" up and down the Parkway before or afterward if the weather is good? It is a nice drive with plenty of other classics likely to be on the road with us. Just a suggestion if we want to make it a fun club thing beyond the barbecue and beer. I was thinking SATURDAY 17 OCTOBER 2015, but am somewhat flexible with the dates to make it work. Please let me know.
