Pretty quiet in here... what are you working on?

Its a Facebook based group of people that are focused on the overlanding type of automotive recreation.
^^ Tried to make that sound official!^^

Its a mixed group of vehicles. Plenty of cool trucks show up regularly. Its normally the second thursday of the month, but there is an event next weekend that starts on thursday.

Ed, if you're on Facebook, look up Mid Atlantic Overland Society. Bloo is the one that told us about the group. It has been growing a lot recently.

Couple of the main guys have a blog called Dirt Road Trip

I might try to put together one of those ATV ramp roof racks. Anyone try it that I could maybe come check out?

I'm not aware of anyone in the club rocking one of those. Only seen them on here.

Got my new tie rod, drag link and lower control arms on with the help of @MattMorty.

Not exactly "What are you working on" material but I made my first significant trip in my 40. I did 400 miles to/from 30 miles South of Lynchburg today. The 40 did pretty well. The only 2 things that were abnormal were a couple times when I went from high speed (~60mph) to neutral the engine died as I came to a stop and then while going down hill in gear if I had the throttle at 10-20% I'd have a vibration, if I pushed through 20% and accelerated down the hill no vibration and if I "coasted" in gear no vibration. On the former issue if I slowed down easy and came to a stop the engine wouldn't die but was pretty loppy at idle. All in all I was pretty happy with how it performed.

Off to napa for brake bads, shoes, wheel cylinders, and maybe some spring kits for the 97. Need to find my traditional hula girl air freshener for new vehicles too.

The other day my space age epoxy fix on my 86 4runner radiator blew. The marine jb weld lasted about a year. Upgraded to permatex quick steel. I'll scrape that off and solder on a brass patch if I ever remember to bring my torch home. New aluminum rad from lowrange offroad inbound.

Balls

Found gear oil collecting on the rear brakes. Rear axle seal replacement time...

Which brand should I go with?
Marlin, toyota, or napa?

I've used all three on my other trucks and havent had problems, but interweb chat says marlin seal quality has decreased recently. Any thoughts?

Well, apparently marlin seals are no-go with abs.

Had a busy weekend. Dropped my skid plate to fix the Rock Rash and reinforce it. Welded on some plate to the back. It will do until I make a heavier one.
Checked fluid levels in the trans and transfer. Greased the U-joints, CV Joints and TREs.
I decided to get Burls manual tire machine and change my trailer tires. Got them changed but have the wrong size valve stems. So on hold till wednsday.

Did the low speed ABS activation go away when you changed the wheel bearings?

Yes, but unsure of why as there were a couple of things going on -- there were some metallic bits on the passenger side sensor. There was actually mild damage to the passenger side sensor, as if it had contacted the ring.

With the help of @TRFCSUX and @Stumpalama, rebuilt the front axle on Rhea's 80. Also noticed that she needs new relay rod ends.

Cruiser Outfitters had the best prices I could find on 555 rod ends. Also....no pics of you guys elbows deep in grease/gear oil?!

That's when you take the pics with @TRFCSUX or @Stumpalama phone!!!
:) :) :) :)

It probably should have been there by now... send the TLCA admin an email, she is usually very quick to respond and can probably email you your TLCA number.

Planned for tomorrow

Replace rear axle seal, wheel cylinders, drum springs, shoes, then pads up front.

Maybe pound out some dents on the red runner, 3m glue some patch pannels,

Swap a tire onto a different rim
