soon to be daily driver...

oh yeah i almost forgot, does the hight of that 40 look stock, i mean like the suspension. does it look lifted?

looks like a small lift...... but you need to do something about that rear shackle angle!!!!!!

you can tell its lifted... ditto about the shackle. also the roll bar :) looks like its turning out nice

well, maybe take this opportunity (before you start relying on it for transportation) to move the front spring hanger back to correct that angle? it should be angling the opposite direction...

ummm. why not just buy the right springs? These ones are too short. They kind of look like maybe they are front springs put on the back, or super rearched rear springs.
If you get the right springs for your rig, that angle will go away. I even have some 2.5" ranchos you can have for the cost of shipping.

IMO, relocating the hanger is alot of work and not necessary.

Manny- looks like the 55 springs all around really flex out- even spring under. Looks good!
Gotta git to choping the rear wheel wells, or are you not rubbing?

cheers-
Dustin

no rubbing at all...the 33x10.5's tuck nicely inside the wheel wells :D

they did distort the sheet metal that covers my stock steering box...

I know you heard it before, but I wish you could have been there.

My 1981 BJ42 after being frame off renovated, on it's way to Moab 2001. It was my daily driver till a year ago, when I got my BJ74. Now it rests in the garage.

Hi All:

Hey "Mr Manny" - how much is the rear axle moved backwards on your FJ40?

Did you re-position the rear shackle hangers?

Thanks!

Not usually a daily driver, unless one of our other cars are in the shop. More like a weekend driver

fj55 rear springs moved the axle back approx. 3 1/2" inches (safari 2 1/2" lift springs).

Rear hangers have not been touched - still in stock location.
I am running extended shackles, made from 3/8th x 2" inch hot-roll flat stock.

center-to-center measurements are as follows:
Rear 5 1/2"
Front 4 1/2"

sorry for the l8t reply,
manny
