there are lots of 45's here in Saskatchewan.. i used to be a full time road mechanic and worked all over Saskatchewan and you would be surprised to know how many cruisers are out there in the bush.. i still know where three 45's are sitting up north just a few hours away from saskatoon.. also, there is a 45 sitting in a garage about 10 minutes away from me here in town that is completely disassembled but the guy wont sell yet..
i bought my 45 from the original owner quite a few years ago.. apparently it was ens toyota's run around truck for 1977/78.. the original owner bought it for about 6500 dollars i believe.. i have the original reciept around here somewhere.. he also bought a bunch of spare body parts for it at the same time.. back when ens industrial were stripping these trucks down to just the cab and chasis, they would sell the box, tailgate, windshield, doors, hardtop as a "package" for 500 bucks.. i was lucky when i bought my 45 because the owner had bought 2.5 packages so ended up with 2 extra boxes, a few windshield frames complete, 4 doors, 4 tailgates and an extra hartop that are basically all brand new.. i have them stored for a better day but its fun to see parts that are essentially brand new from 1977...
here is the truck when i brought it home... unfortunatelly it still doesnt look too much different as it has been low on the priority list of things to fix/restore while i work on other trucks...
from that truck i ended up building my other 45.. it was actually a 40 that i had stretched the frame on about 10 years ago and bought a cab from aqualu when their products were a bit more reasonably priced for 1276 bucks shipped to my door.. i took the worst of the three 45 boxes that i had and bobbed both ends and basically built a 45 short box.. at least the dimensions were close.. i had a short box 45 pic that was named "dale browns 45" i believe and that was the original inspiration for my truck..
sinse then i bent the frame and blew the headgasket in the 2f.. i have been in the process in the last few years of finally getting it back on the road.. i bought a bj60, took 3 feet out of the frame, moved and changed all of the body mounts, suspension mounts and mounted my cruiser body and box onto it.. the bj60 was an 83 so it had a 5 speed, power steering, 3b diesel and of course the axles are 3 inches wider and the frame is beefier than my original 40 series..i should hopefully be done it with the next month or so.. i cant wait.. so, its not an "original" 45 but i am sure you guys will understand..
here are a few pics of it over the years..
and then the final pic of it before i blew it up and tore it apart..
and here where it is now again..
