| BJ40 Build Up/Resto Well here is latest and final plan. I have a 79 BJ40. I had a 3B diesel engine and a turbo charger off of a Hino engine. But now have a 12H-T 6 cylinder turbo diesel with a 5 speed. I bought an 80 series for the 1HD-T for my 45 series. I am going to use the axles out of the 80 series and convert the 40 from leaf springs to custom link set up to run either coil overs or coils. I am aiming for 36 inch Irocks. ARB lockers front and rear, snorkel, custom rock sliders that tie into the front bumper as well as the rear bumper and tube front fenders. More to come as I make progress.

| Front axle and whats left of the 80 series. I measured the the semi float rear axle and the full float rear axle and have gained about 5 inches total in width.

| That's quite the project you've got there. Really dig the 70's stripes. My old '79 had similar graphics. Could you add a pic of the hood at some time. Thanks, Alan. |

| Yeah its going to take some time I have to mock everything up then take it apart again to get the frame sand blasted and painted. Yeah sure I will take a pic of it next time I'm out at the shop.

| Well here is what got done this weekend. I pulled the leaf springs out as well as the fuel tank. And then got the axles sitting about where I want them. Now I just have to mount the axles to the frame set the final ride height. I used 35's since they are the closest thing I have to the 36 inch Irocks I want to run. This is obviously the front axle.

| One last pic of the front and beginning of the rear. I am going to have to do some fender trimming in the rear to set the axle where I want it.

| Picture of the whole thing. I want to bring the height down some more. Its a ways up there but the wider axles and longer wheel base are going to make this 40 a lot more stable.

| Last few pics for now showing the gain in width. And now the careful task of mounting the axles properly and making mounting points.

| Well I got the front axle sitting where I want it. Got a rough measurement of the wheelbase and it will be somewhere between 100 and 102 inches. I may have some major work to do to the rear axle to clock the pinion up so that the driveshaft angle isn't so extreme I'll get some pics of that tomorrow.

| Thanks. Not even close to being done. Once I get this all mocked up mounted I have to take it all apart again to get the frame coated and fix the body.

| Steering What are your plans for steering? Doesn't the draglink get in the way of the coils? |

Yeah if you look in the one picture the coil is actually hitting the drag link. I also want power steering so I am going to mount a different steering box to the frame. I also have to convert the 80 series axle to LH steer from RH. Stock steering will deffinatly not work with this set up.

| What about the tranny? The stock H42 found in Canadian trucks is going to be a little high with 35's. I have an H41 gearset for a "B" series engine which is the 4.9:1 first gear. I can get that to Cranbrook in the summer if you're interested. PM me if you're interested

| I am planning a regear to 5.29 or maybe 5.72 in the axles with ARB's. In the future if the 3B ever kicks the bucket or I find a 13BT resonably with a 5 speed that would be going into the truck and then I would be done with it. So hopefully if I am lucky I will come across something in the future.
