I also ordered up some oil drain plug gaskets.

This is what I'm running for first start. I probably should have used some cheaper stuff but 'eh.

Also ordered up a radiator cap. Here's the lifetime of caps for my rig. I think anyway.

I say that because, I think the one on the left is the original. There are no TEQ markings but the stampings between the new and oldest one are the same. I'll keep doing some digging on what a vintage one should look like though.

Enjoying this immensely. I like the documentation of small details and desire for originality. Nice work.

Thanks! I'm trying to document what I couldn't really find available from other threads and take plenty of pics. Everyone here, myself included, loves pics!

First test fit any I'm annoyed.

The pinch welds don't clear the hold down straps so it's sitting high.

They should have bent it like they did to make clearance for the rear heater lines (I might re-route my rear heater lines to make use of this if I keep this tank) here.

@120mm did you face any fitment issues? Your pinch welds seem to be bent more flush with the body of the tank in your build thread. Mine are at 90 degrees to the body on the back side.

I'm hoping I just got a crappy pandemic built tank. I'm going to call Mr T.

Mine fit perfectly.

Sorry you are having issues... :(

I called Mr T today. The tech was like "yeah no prob, I can order one from Portland, it'll be here tmrw." He's had issues with pandemic parts before. Awesome!

Not kidding, 2 minutes later his manager calls. First thing out of his mouth "This is Mr Parts Mgr, did you install the tank?" No, I just took it out of the box and sort of set it down. "So you installed it? Sorry, no returns." No sir, you misheard me, I just measured it and noticed it would not fit. It never left the box. "Fine, see you tmrw."

I've been dealing with the parts counter techs for the most part. Absolutely professional behavior from them. This guy was rude. So this should be fun. I hope the mgr is not there tmrw. Over $500 with tax, this baby better fit right out of the box.

I found a used one on FB but it's literally on the other side other country to me.

I’ve had bad experiences with service managers in the past. “I’m sorry you do your own work” was a favorite.

It's been a bit since I was able to get out to my shop and work on my rig. Lot's of other smallish projects jumped the line. I've been spending a lot of time scrubbing the internet for early gas tank info also. I have a plan.

I was able to get the screw jack back together though.

There is a retaining clip that holds the top extension screw from coming all the way out. I couldn't find a way to get it out of the way, and from what I read on other posts, you just have to force it over and then bend it back on assembly. So that's what I did.

Out if comes.
