Indeed. That's a Khanjar, a ceremonial dagger. It originated in Oman but you see them in Saudi and I assume other areas of the middle east as well. I have one or two that were given to me. Photo could be in Oman but the Fez made me think Egypt or Morocco.
definitely a blend of headgear and clothing....I spent some time in Afghanistan, too much western wear and not enough jingle on the 55 to be from Pak or Afghan...

yep, pretty clear in previous pic, the Mercedes Of Landcruisers, whatever that means

Indeed. Frame off restoration of old Mercedes gas/water trucks is a thing in the middle east - especially in Saudi Arabia. Maybe this guy kinda sorta married the two? Just a WAG.
