Same same to 97 bolt-in wise...

Look into full float and semi float, also. You can use one of them for both, but not the other way, clear as mud!

4x/5x/6x/7x/8x (Full-Float Rear Axle) (Full-Float Front Axle)

Part# ARB RD142

4x/5x/6x/7x/8x (Semi-Float Rear Axle) (Can also be used in FJ40/55/60/62 Full-Float Front Axle)

Part# ARB RD153

Ron, do you have a fully floating rear?
Ron’s issue is not his floating rear or non-floating rear but his ARB will not hold air pressure indicating a bad seal or a part out of spec allowing oil to pass back through the same circuit that’s letting air out.

Should be fairly easy to pinpoint and fix but still sucks that it needs to be pinpointed and fixed.

The air leak has been fixed, at least the gauge holds pretty good over night. It still backs the oil up the small ARB line, but not the TWO different vent lines in the housing. Three sets of seals, two seal housings, over my head. Kurt can have a stab at it.

Is that the same as not dropping any pressure?

Air is much thinner liquid than gear oil, if air can’t escape I cannot see how 90wt can get in.

If I had to place a bet I would guess a part is out of round pumping oil through the seals.

No, it does go down, but explain how it goes up the small air hose and not the two larger vent lines. ARB techs will tell you holding air for only 15 mins. is normal. It can't be a pressure issue with two vents. We replaced the seal housing twice thinking it was out of round. Could be both were bad?

Don’t know just spit balling here with you..

I will say all six of my air lockers that I have tested will hold 80 PSI for 24 hours with no pressure drop and none leak oil back up to the solenoids. ARB didn’t invent the O-ring seal and all O-rings have a spec they must run within to perform as designed, I would look up the design criteria for the rings themselves and check the ARB housings to see if they conform to these specs.

Holding pressure for 15 minutes sounds like a BS minimal standard to me and not one I would use for my lockers.

Good luck, FYI I always have a spot in my shop for you and your pig if you need help.

I agree, but that's the crap they'll tell when something isn't right and they don't know what's wrong. I'd be money and aggravation ahead if I just bought a new one.

Now that sounds like what's going on. I'm saving that and bringing it up with Kurt, hopefully and ARB!

FYI...I've heard back from Stan Wright and he'll run a Toyota Trails piece on our 2018 Pig Party. Just wanted to alert the shiny crowd (you too, Bob) to fluff and fold their Pigs nicely for picture opportunities and trail planners to be sure to get us into some good scenery. Perhaps Scrapdaddy and Megadoomer will let us all shower before any group pics. Once again, let's plan to share photo duties.
