Hello all. After seeing @GA Architect s post. I was empowered to get my own working. Everything is hooked up. But I can’t see where the switch that is actuated by the parking break is located. It’s just hanging. Does anyone have a picture of the location? I can’t find a picture in my manuals. Thank you all for any help..

!! Oh ya!! Sorry folks! It’s an April of 77 fj40.

It screws into the back of the bracket that attaches the parking brake assembly to the lower dash. And if you need actual photos, I can take some this afternoon.

That’s interesting.. I saw that spot but didn’t see why it Would work .. but seeing it exploded.. I’ll do some poking around!!

Note, once you find the location and screw the switch in, there is a fine line of working depth. Screw it in too far and the brake won't release, not screw it in enough and it wont activate the switch. Thus is the reason for the extra nut on the switch's threads, to lock in place once you find the working depth.

I’ve had good results opening up Toyota switches, polishing the contacts, lubing them, and reassembling them. I’ve never seen one of those switches, and individual results may vary. :)

You should be set... it’s usually not hard on quality components.

i Really LIKE the OEM Parts Maker's casting Stamps ! :D

i have Never seen either the Throwing Star or the Leaning T either ? 🤔

Thats tight ...........💫

Well... I’ve replaced the bulbs, checked the brake booster connections, adjusted the switch.. nothing yet.

Ground?

Fuse?

Multimeter... can never have too many tools

The fuse is good. As far as I can see. I haven’t had a problem there yet. I’m not sure where the ground would be. I assumed it was grounded by the connection to the dash.

Here are some pics.

Note, the ground for the parking brake is/are attached to the brake warning switch under the brake master cylinder.
