Well, the fella installing my engine made a mistake. By accident, he installed the upper radiator hose on the bottom. Funny thing ... after trimming 2" off one end he said it fit. I haven't seen it in person yet to see how well it clears the alternator. Here are two pictures he sent me. Is this common knowledge, or did he stumble on something?

Circling back. That hose didn't work. It rubbed on the alternator pretty bad. I ended up with the T100 hose. It wasn't a perfect fit, but workable with some knife work. I took 1.5" from the engine side, and 3/4" off the radiator side. I also had to take 1/2" off the upper cross-over steering bolt.
 
Time for an update. A few weeks ago I went with the club to run Lockhart Basin in Moab. Normally, I would leave a day early because I can't keep up. It was not the case this trip. I was pulling hills in 5th gear, sometimes 4th. Like I said a few pages back, the goal was to be able to keep up. No problem. On the way home I was passing trucks on the hills. This was a shift into 5th engine and forget about it. I did have a few issues, several minor, one major.

One issue I had was with the exhaust. I run a high-pinion diff out of an 80-series. The cross-over pipe smacked the diff. Solution is to go back to a low pinion. Fortunately, I have a V6 diff in the garage. I just need to regear, and have the ARB I have installed.

This engine met my expectations. Is it a V8? Of course not, but considering what was under the hood before I'm very pleased. Extremely pleased. But, now I'm power hungry, and looking at the next size down for the sc pulley. Nothing drastic, just a little more.

im very much looking forward to boosting mine.
4.56 with 32" (currently) tires. I will be going back to 33's when these wear down.

How about running the exhaust back around the transfer case? That's how mine is largely for smog reasons here, but I also love my high pinion and wouldn't ditch it unless I had no other option. It will make removal of the trans easier in the future as well. Although prob not a concern with a R151 and fresh clutch.

When I was at the muffler shop we looked at running it behind the TC. I can't remember why, but we couldn't make it work. As far as tranny removal, I had them install a flange at the cat to make that piece of pipe removable.
 
This is how I ran my exhaust. Flanges on both ends as well so it can be removed easily to stop the transmission if needed.

How happy are you with your ARBs? I’m debating between them or Harrops for my truck and I’ve gone back and forth so many times at this point.
 
Here's my routing for reference. By the time you have it regeared, setup kit, install done it may be about same cost to just reroute exhaust if it can be done like mine and keep your HP. Just throwing ideas.

I'm not overly impressed. There is a leak someplace I can't find that causes the pump to cycle. Interesting you mentioned the Harrop. I was looking at them this morning. I didn't like how I was going to need to run the air line off the front diff with the exhaust in the way. The elocker is really sounding like a good idea right now. It would be nice to have a second locker that doesn't require a pump in case it fails.

Thank you! That definitely pushes me more towards the Harrop. I already need to regear and I only want to do this once.

A few updates. I was able to source an elocker out of a 4Runner. It's well known that the axle housing needs to be modified. But, so does the differential housing to work in the front. There is interference between the housing and a u-bolt, and the spring hits the actuator. One bolt hits the spring and the solution is to countersink the hole. The second is an ear that hits the spring. That can be removed. Last, the edge of the housing needs to be ground to clearance the u-bolt. I've done some grinding, but I suspect I will need to take off more. I'll wait until I can test fit before I take off more.

Two other things also happened. While I was happy with the power I did decide to add the next smaller supercharger pulley. I went from 2.75", which is the low boost pulley, to 2.6". I'm hoping for a couple more pounds boost.

The other modification I did was a balance shaft delete. That did seem to wake up the engine. The down side is because you block off the two oil passages to the shaft bearings it jacked up my oil pressure. As in 100psi jacked up. Max pressure should be 75psi. LCE says the solution is to remove the outer spring from the pressure relief valve and just install the inner spring. That is happening tomorrow. I ain't doing it. Too f'ing hot to lie on the concrete pulling the oil pan. As reference, the 2RZ, which doesn't have balance shafts, only has one spring. It's a different part number.

On to the AC. Thanks @liveoak for the wiring. Tomorrow I go shopping for the 3Kohm resistor.

I boneyard sourced an assortment of compressor fittings that I thought would work. Because my 1985 had the service connectors on the manifold I needed to add fittings inline. The hard line from a 1988 4Runner was the ticket. I also used the low side evaporator fitting from the same truck. Both had service ports. I mocked up the hoses, then took them to a local hose shop. They made me new hoses. The shop actually had the evaporator fitting with the service port in stock, so they gave me back my old one.

Tomorrow I take the truck in to get leak checked and charged.

A comment here. My speedometer shows I'm going 2-3mph faster on the freeway than my GPS. But, the speed off the OBD is spot on with the GPS. Speedometer is off.
 
I'm looking forward to see how the smaller pulley works out. Getting your A/C working is going to be nice.

That 90 pickup I flipped a while back had a really jacked up speedometer. At some speeds it was spot on. Some were off as much as 15 mph and it wasn't a linear change. I finally swapped the speedometer with one from another used instrument cluster I bought.
