Last year, I attempted to sell this FZJ79 to the USA, but unfortunately, we had no luck. We were able to sell it locally so that we can move on. Then we repurchased it last spring. Then Last summer I tried again to sell it to the USA. Still, I encountered many unserious buyers, with some doubting the process, another was offering 13k for it, and numerous negative responses. Then, in September, a message appeared here from Jacob @vansfromjapan, who seemed to know what he wanted and had done enough research to assure that I am not a scammer seeking American money. Haha. The first text was sent on September 8. We exchanged texts, and Jacob proved to be a good negotiator. Then, ten days after the deal closed.

Hint: I keep telling my fellow Americans, you are buying from an Arab, you can negotiate

The truck arrived at my place, and then I had another text exchange with Jacob to understand what we should do with the 25-year-old truck. A full service was the decision.

Areas to address:
  • Front crank seal replacement: Front seal is not good, but we will check the rear one when we lower the trans
  • Transmission and transfer case: they will be on the ground this week, then a complete cleaning, new seals, and switches.
  • Front differential rebuild: This includes all the bearings and a complete gasket kit for the knuckles
  • Break refreshments: It is an old truck, but rotors and drums need machining only; we are going to replace all parts around them.
  • Cooling system refreshments: For such a truck, I always recommend installing a new radiator unit, but we will also be replacing additional components in the system.

Alright!
I like my part guy; he allows stocking LC parts. However, sometimes he gets it wrong. This time, the 555 end rods were short and missing the back side. I don't know the'hell of what he gave us, but we are returning it. If no 555s matching what we unscrewed, we will get OEM.

The front diff and calipers are washed and nicely done, but I'm waiting for the rods and the hoses.

I am not happy with the cleaning, but I will find out later how to wash it. I already asked them to clean with gas, but it looks like it needs more.

The beautiful hoses showed up! There is no excuse not to replace a 25-year-old hoe.

I keep remembering @OGBeno 's comment about the fan, which mentioned that it was made of plastic, haha. a new whater pump is comming too.

I figured I would replace the PS's reservoir hose as well.

Then, the nasty transmission is sent to my friend Moboark so he can ensure all components are in good condition and allow us to heat-wash all aluminum bodies, enabling us to install new parts like switches and seals.

Nasty switches.

One of the parts we need to change is the bush for the case's shifter.

Properly done. Another example of the quality of @Meshal's work. Can't wait to see it!

Love this, great to see another solid FZJ75 making the trip across the pond. Mine is built like the space shuttle, the cab is sealed so tight I have to crack a window to make the doors close easier :)

Transmission work began with unplugging the body so we could send it to the hot bath. The trans and T-case were shifting smoothly, but I did this so we could clean and inspect the inside before sending the truck overseas. Today, they should provide me with a report on the component's condition.

One part that they found broken is this one. I had unplugged H151 before, and this one was broken as well. My guy said you don't need it "Saudi Style", but I found a take-off for it.

This time, I would like to ask for your help: what is its function?

Alright, my part guy couldn't help with the rod difference, so he replaced it with an OEM set; I need to check with 555 to find the right fit for the modern J7X for future projects.

1759735128098.webp

A new water pump is needed.
