hi im martin and im new here.. thought id show you my dads car..

this was our project few months ago..it consists of an 80 series landcruiser with a remanufactured 454 bigblock.. its a stock engine however it has a 502 chev cam..it replaced the old 4.5 litre 1fz-fe and a gearbox adapter was used to put chev onto the toyota g/box.. the converter was de-stalled to 1900 which comes on perfect with the cams torque peak..gearbox seems to be alright.. and the standard diffs apperantly are even bigger than the 9inches and are strong enough for our needs.. runs a single 3 inch exhaust.. it now has twin throttle bodies when we converted to gas..the dizzy has been re-graphed for a lower curve, its mainly a towing vehiecle... well heres some pics of the full conversion..enjoy :)

the main point of the conversion was to tow our boat.. old engine struggled too much..:p

here is what were towing... ENJOY :)

wow, shouldn't have any problems towing that boat! Looks good and clean. enjoy.

Wow, thats gotta be sweet on the high way now! The 80 ive ridden in lacks power, and still gets 13mpg. You could probably acheive that with a bigblock, if you dont embrace the cubic inch with open pedal

thanks for the replies.. she tows the boat pretty good.. it still feels it there however it makes things a whole lot easier, goes great up the hills etc.. even with the standard box..

lol.. with out the boat driving very very easily, we get around 4 - 5 kilometers to 1 litre of fuel..

driving it abit harder we get aroun 3-4 kays per litre, and we get around 3 towing easily..

not too bad because its on gas though.. here the premium fuel is around 1.70-1.80 per litre (australia) gas is around 70 cents.. :D

WOW! Looks like a perfect fit and must feel amazing while driving it it! Despite the fact the vehicle is no longer a toyota anymore it's still looks good! :oP

what?!? you couldnt find a diesel over there :D

Looks good though, and i bet its a blast to drive. Plus you made some 'merican boys proud there. Add one more to the list of v80s. Looks like you've got a lotfish on the line.

oh and welcome to mud :flipoff2: keep up the posts like this and youll be a pretty popular guy.

For us in the US 5.10 Km/L = 12 MPG

2.98 Km/L = 7 MPG

That should definitely pull that boat well. Looks good.

Nice job!...............why r u keeping the stock air box?

Post # 1 indicates they are using it as a tool box.

I can hear that big Rat sing from here and my ears are loving every second of it.

looks good, hope it lasts. how many miles are on the original engine?

just made a mess all over my keyboard! love it! great job. hows the tranny holding up?

thanks for all the comments..

-yeah its a good car to drive.. allot quicker, it feels like the engine was actually designed for it..lol

-thanks for the welcome.. we were looking at the f-250s and the suburbans.. but here the fords were 70,000 plus, and the suburbans were 80+, even over 100.. for a fairly new one, didnt want to get an older one.. they are cheap to start of, but people here charge $20,000 just to convert everything to right hand drive.. plus diesel is nearly $2 a litre now..

-im actually suprised it fitted under the bonnet.. we had to reajust the alternator and get different brackets , (the idler pulley and some other brackets we made our selves).. the engine has done just over 15000 kilometers.. our old 1fz-fe did 255111 km's..(engine has nothing wrong with it, going 100% good.. never one oil leak aswell) its in my garage now.. i wanna keep it and do a turbo conversion in the future..

-lol @ blowing a load.. the tranny is holding up very well and im very suprised.. we drive it hard and it still holds.. it has a flare going into 3rd gear but its nothing bad..
if anything does go bad with it, we got some mates with a spare gearbox, soon we might rebuild the other box, put more frictions, z clutch packs.. etc.. and beef it up.. however for now its going good..

we actually thought the box would last around 6-12 months.. however the conversion is nearly 1 year old and still holding, we were gonna put ina turbo400 and 9 inch..

any more comments welcome :)
