Heather and I took a week away from business and farm. We drove around in PA and VA with the only criteria being 3 caves and Gettysburg. It quickly included Diners, we hit 8. A close second, Italian joints, we made 4. Ahhhhhh stromboli

We also hit Jim Thorpe PA, cool little town with architecture to die for. We hit the 3 caves too.
Over all another big factor was all the small towns we went through. The history is everywhere you look. We spent a big part of day one driving through Amish farms in PA. heading for an Amish run harness company that Heather has been buying from since I've known her. Out in the middle of nowhere, no sign, but an open buggy in the lot with horse. I am not an equestrian and I was blown away. They had century old machines in the back that were unreal.
I've come home with a bad case of Barn Envy. The barns I fell in love with would cost $250K plus to build here today. Houses built in the 1600s still in use. Food was a big player too as both of us are from the NE. I had diner food to die for. French Onion soup was on every single menu. Stromboli at two different places.
First Italian restaurant we went to was the place I started riding my bike 1.5 miles to when I was about 9 or so. We got a slice and a coke and went back to the creek to eat. We walk in last Friday and there stands a familiar face, Lois (I had forgotten her name). I asked "have you been working here a loooooong time?" 46 years, started in 76. We chat a bit, "You were one of the Palomino Farms guys, I remember you, you guys were a hand full, never bad, just a hand full." 46 years. wow.
The photos are in Loray caverns VA. GO SEE THIS PLACE!! Go early to beat the crowds or off season.
