After a few of us had to scramble for Baofeng chargers at hurricane creek I decided to buy a car charger. $8 on Amazon if anyone else wants one.

BAOFENG Baofeng & ABBREE DC 12-24V Car Charge Cable Line, BTECH UV-5R,BF-F8HP, UV-82HP,UV-82,UV-5X3,GT-3,GT-3TP (CH-5, CH-8, etc. Charger Base Compatible) Amazon product ASIN B06XNLPQKP

Hmm, that came with the last couple UV5’s I bought. Maybe not anymore?

Another good option is just getting a spare battery. Haven’t bought one in a long time but I think I used to pay about $10. Even my 5 year old batteries still hold a charge like my 5 month old batts. Gotta love it.

Do NOT buy the corded cig plug battery adapter. It’s nowhere near long enough to reach from a socket to your face in most vehicles. I made that mistake!

Heather and I took a week away from business and farm. We drove around in PA and VA with the only criteria being 3 caves and Gettysburg. It quickly included Diners, we hit 8. A close second, Italian joints, we made 4. Ahhhhhh stromboli :) We also hit Jim Thorpe PA, cool little town with architecture to die for. We hit the 3 caves too.

Over all another big factor was all the small towns we went through. The history is everywhere you look. We spent a big part of day one driving through Amish farms in PA. heading for an Amish run harness company that Heather has been buying from since I've known her. Out in the middle of nowhere, no sign, but an open buggy in the lot with horse. I am not an equestrian and I was blown away. They had century old machines in the back that were unreal.

I've come home with a bad case of Barn Envy. The barns I fell in love with would cost $250K plus to build here today. Houses built in the 1600s still in use. Food was a big player too as both of us are from the NE. I had diner food to die for. French Onion soup was on every single menu. Stromboli at two different places.

First Italian restaurant we went to was the place I started riding my bike 1.5 miles to when I was about 9 or so. We got a slice and a coke and went back to the creek to eat. We walk in last Friday and there stands a familiar face, Lois (I had forgotten her name). I asked "have you been working here a loooooong time?" 46 years, started in 76. We chat a bit, "You were one of the Palomino Farms guys, I remember you, you guys were a hand full, never bad, just a hand full." 46 years. wow.

The photos are in Loray caverns VA. GO SEE THIS PLACE!! Go early to beat the crowds or off season.

I worked in Luray, VA for a few years. Never made it to the caverns. Looks like fun.

Watching somebody across the cove try to trailer their boat out of the water. First they backed the truck in to the front wheels. Then they moved forward because he realized he’d get wet when he got out. Then they decided to go out for an hour with the trailer still sunk.

Came back and backed to the front axle again. Hooked the boat to the trailer winch and couldn’t find traction with all four tires under water. SO…they did what makes the most sense - gun the boat, which is in plenty of water, while flooring the truck. 20 minutes later they’re out and up the ramp hill.

Now there’s an idiot at the other end of the cove who failed to get two jet skis launched and running at somebody else’s ramp who is now trying to launch a boat at a different persons ramp. After driving their diesel Chevy through both yards each time, of course. Truck is cutting off unless he keeps the revs stupidly high, which he’s only now figuring out…but still can’t get it. Sounds like his muffler is under water but I can clearly see it’s not. His boat should be in danger of floating over the trailer fenders but it seems it’s still strapped down, that’s not gonna happen! I think his battery is now almost dead from the 20-plus starts in the last 5 minutes. This is gonna be good. It’s almost dark.

I think they’re the people doing work on the house across the cove where I’ve never seen anybody in a year until all the hammering and sawing this weekend.

Also, there are plenty of weekenders here who think it’s fine to leave the truck on the ramp with the trailer submerged all weekend. This is why you never let someone borrow your boat to take to an Airbnb.

Anyone ordered from Partsouq recently? I was going to get a dozen rubber bushings for fj43 springs, they are $1 each, but shipping is insane. I ordered a couple of weeks ago a parking brake cover boot and shipping was normal.

I’ve noticed that over the last year or so. It seems like it depends on what you’re ordering. I’ll come up with something like you have and shipping is insane; empty the cart and add something completely different…shipping will be “normal”.

Just did that earlier this morning, shipping went from over $100 to $25. DHL of course, dont want my parts lost by FedEx. Japan rubber bushings on the way now.

It was waaay better than the "at lest one month" Toyota quoted me, for delivery from the manufacturer, and they couldn't promise the part delivered would be mine.

Regardless of support or not for royalty peeples, it was really cool to see the 15 Typhoon fighters in formation with the 70 years queen thing

History buffs - Sarah's grandfather is being honored in DC on Monday at the Navy Memorial for a wreath laying ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Midway. He's 99 years old and served on the USS Enterprise from 1941 through the end of the war. Most of his time was spent as Yeoman or Yeoman Chief on the bridge, so he saw everything from an impressive perch. His mind is still sharper than many of us and he's full of stories that continue to keep him busy as an interview subject for History Channel shows and others. Google Willard Norberg to see some of the stuff he's been featured on.

I know some of you will be interested in watching the live stream of this event, and I apologize for the lateness of this posting but I was only recently made aware of the fact it would be streamed. Sadly, though my wife will be there, I'll be 30 minutes away at an unrelated appointment that cannot be rescheduled!

That is awesome John!!!

Crazy v8 defender 90. LR put a V8 in the Defender 90. Top speed 149. 0-60 in 4.9 seconds and 22's.

Sad day yesterday. I got rid of my trusty Honda Fit “the Ferrari” and bought my daughter an HRV.
The plan was to buy something used but with used car prices through the roof it was about the same price to buy a 2022 model. We also got way lower interest rate on a new one compared to a used one.
Overall I think we got a great deal and she will have a brand new trouble free car that I don’t have to worry about breaking down on her

^^ Smart move Del. I have a hard time selling a couple year old vehicle when I know a new one is about the same price. You may not get a large rebate, like in the past, but usually there is an interest rate incentive. You done good!
