You got a black one not a white one .... WTF . you should have a look at what if any local shops there are to rent. You can often find share spaces or small shops in crappy industrial areas for well under $1 a sq ft ..
Only the "dark gray" one was on sale.

There is an auto shop on base here that's actually very good, but honestly no reason to use it when I can just use this tent.

29 Palms doesn't have an industrial area really, the only thing keeping this town alive is base.

If you've never built a galvanized steel car shelter in 110 degrees and an "excessive heat warning" from noon to 3pm, I don't recommend it.

This will be the workspace that I continue to fit out the troopy in, particularly the pop top and the interior.

Being familiar with the experience, I can tell you that there is probably only one advantage to doing so, which is the fact that you find yourself working alone, in absolute quiet peace, hugging the heat, and now one is giving you any advise...

Two steps forward, one step back. My A/C, which was just charged less than a month ago, is no longer blowing cold. Compressor seems to be engaging, will need to check if there is a leak somewhere.

I've chased mine a few times, the orings can be pretty easy to pinch and it'll get a really slow leak. When you go through fixing, if you charge yourself you can pull vaccum and give it a lot longer than a shop would to see if it holds. The automatic machines shops use won't catch tiny tiny leaks.

None of mine were leaking fast enough to see the dye that I put in. Borrowed a friends sniffer and that made my life a bit easier! (my main problem ended up just being me sucking at making lines, replacing all of mine from a hydraulic shop soon). Good luck!!

Thanks man. The shop put die into mine, so I'll need to get a UV light I suppose. having all new lines fabricated seems like a big pain in the buns unfortunately.

Our Alu-innovations group buy has arrived and I have started the install!

The high pressure valve on my AC compressor has failed.

Is this an easy fix? Do I need an entirely new compressor?

No leaks anywhere else.

Well, got the top installed. Happy with how it turned out. Not perfect, but good enough for me.

Also replaced the high side schrader valve and recharged my AC, blowing cold now.

The real question is which side to put the maxtrax table and 270 awning on. I've got dual swing out on my rear bar, have heard the spare tire swingout is a pain the buns to have a 270 on the passenger side. I want to put the maxtrax table on the side with the 270 as a prep station, but not sure if anyone has first hand experience with dealing with a 270 and a rear bar tire carrier.

I have a RHD HZJ75, but preferred to have the awning and MaxTrax in the LH side for a couple reasons. LH side with the shorter barn door is easier to walk around, HZJ75 has dual fuel tanks and didn't want to mess around table placemat and fuel doors, nor fueling with the table protruding out from the body.

I do have the @cruiseroutfit rear bar, so the swing outs are connected to the rear doors. When I mounted the maxtrax table, I did position it forward of the rear vent to avoid being too close to the rear swing out.

Only negative being when you are in established campgrounds (which we try to avoid) your outdoor prep area may end up on the other side of the picnic table or fire ring, etc.

Thank you! The fuel issue with the prep table, etc was probably my #1 reason for thinking about going with a driver (LHD) side 270 and putting the table there.

Now that I'm starting to add more weight to this truck, I want to upgrade my brake booster an master cylinder.

I've read that going from the 70 series single baffle to the 80 series double baffle is a huge upgrade, but can anyone point me in the right direction regarding part fitment, etc?

I see the 70 series replacement from city racer is ~250, but believe this is only a single baffle.

Hello,

I remember reading that Terrain Tamer makes an improved brake booster for 70 Series trucks.

Would it be worth trying it?

Just curious.

Absolutely, but looks like the Terrain Tamer booster is 750+ Aussie kangaroos

Hello,

Now that is expensive. I guess you have to add shipping to that. Aussie kangaroos add up quickly.

If only Terrain Tamer had an office closer to us...

80 Series brake booster it is. It is easier to get.

Go look at the PDI website, that sell upgraded boosters. 🤙

Cheers
