I have an Indel B in my Sprinter project. Nice fridge.
This is refreshing to hear. I haven't seen many people running this type fridge!

I think big rig operators use them. Here's a shot of mine. I'm still working on the interior of the Sprinter.

Also, where are people tapping into for their backup camera?

What wire are people using for the reverse signal?
I ran my backup camera through the driver's door harness into the rear quarter and tapped the reverse lights. A bit about it in my thread... I mounted the camera on the license plate using this camera/bracket from Amazon.

Rudimentary, but the fridge is now running on house power!

Team, I unfortunately have injured my back again and may have to sell this truck because I'm not sure I'll be able to work on it myself.

Anyone know someone looking for a troopy with a pop top?

I've got no idea what to price this at for a potential sale.

Very sad news

Sorry to hear that. Maybe take some time away from it while you heal and then reconsider?
Maybe. But may need spinal fusion - potential medical retirement / separation from the Corps. Don't know if I'll ever be able to do the things necessary to it that I want to, much less overland in it.

May still keep it, but not sure I'll ever be able to use it properly if that ends up happening.

I don't know what to say Paul. I hope things go in a good direction.

I also hope you won't sell your Troopy. Put it away safely for a while if you have to. Your troopy will wait for you.

And after doing nothing with mine for years we've really been finally getting after my Omani troopy. Just today we dropped the 1HZ in instead of the rather tired 1FZ-F:

But if you do have to sell I am sure you won't have a problem finding buyers. LHD troopys are not that easy to find of an age that you can bring to the US.

That said, our mutual friend just send me some photos of another one he's got for sale:

I'm sure this brings back memories for you.

They may be pretty much rust free but we both know these have lived a hard life. You've brought yours back to pretty much as-new near as I can tell. I'm working on it. So far we've rebuilt with new stuff both diffs, tranny and transfer case, all four brakes and axels, dash, aircon in the cab and, and now the 1HZ with a really nice fresh head. And it is going to get a little Safari turbo. The great things about these trucks is that they are simple and roomy and pretty modular, so there will always be a good demand. Oh, one other thing we did was put in taller 2nd and 5th gears in the H151.

Hope you are feeling better soon Paul.

John, thank you for the note! I may park her for a while and hope for the best with the back.

I also got those pictures, sure does bring back memories - actually have a friend who might be interested in it 🤣. He is a glutton for punishment like I am.

Sorry to hear this! I enjoy reading your thread and the great transformation you troopy has gone through. Are you getting help with your back on base or did you get lucky and score a off-base referral?

I was sent to a civilian surgeon when I was AD. I was advised to avoid a back fusion as it leads to future fusion of the vertebrae above & below the original fusion. I'm not trying to tell you to do anything here, just sharing what I was told. Civilian doctors have more options to help with blown disks than mil doctors. Mil members have the right to receive a second opinion on a diagnosis, and this can be leveraged into a civilian doctor solution.

Both of my surgeries have been done by a surgeon at Naval Medical Center San Diego - first by an orthopedic surgeon, the second by a neurosurgeon. The second surgery left a much smaller surgery than the first, go figure.

I'll be sure to get a second opinion before I do anything like fusion for sure - but being up in 29 Palms makes it a little more difficult.

Hello Paul, wish you the best on your prognosis and next steps and definitely get a second opinion. As others have said, hang on to the truck until the dust has settled with your medical topics.

Cheers, James

I had my back work done by a neurosurgeon. Went into the hospital in a wheelchair, barely able to walk.

Two hours after the surgery stood up as if I was a new person.

Core work is key afterwards. I’m 6 yrs post surgery doing 100+ mile endurance bike rides in the desert. Also, post-heart attack.

You can do this. Make sure to get a good surgeon who errs on the side of being conservative.

Park the truck and come back to it; you’ll be happy that you did a few years from now.

I hope you keep it. I had a fusion 5years ago. I have a physical job, still wrench heavily, (Engine/trans swaps, etc) and have drove my cruiser across country many times. Good luck!

Well team - some good news, some bad news, and some other news.

The bad news: my engine had rod knock. Was quoted 7-10k to rehab it via a shop - I worked to get a takeout 1FZ-F from another member who had done an engine swap. I ended up buying the engine right around the same time someone reached out to me about purchasing the troopy.

The good news: This troopy will remain in the hands of a land cruiser enthusiast.

The other news: my troopy is now sold and has gone to a new home. I'll let the new owner make their own build thread if they elect to go that route.

I bought this truck from Oman during a dark place in my life. My wife and I had just lost our unborn son during her first round of IVF treatment. I figured if God had not wanted me to have a child I was going to find something that I could pour my heart and soul into. Seeing this truck every day reminded me of that loss. I loved learning how this truck operated and have loved being a member of the 70 series forum. Thank you to everyone who answered my questions and helped point me in the right direction.

Fortunately, my wife and I were blessed on her third round of IVF with a healthy baby boy. I would not have felt safe taking my son in this vehicle until he was at least a teenager unfortunately. For now - his adventures will only be in the 200. I will continue to live vicariously through all of you.

Thank you.
