Looks like 416 dune beige has been resurrected as "quicksand" code 2KP for the FJ Cruiser, 2011 through 2014. The paint shop I was working with only had formulas for the 416 as a single stage paint, not base coat + clear coat, making it harder to put down a deep glassy finish. Too late for me but maybe somebody else can use it. The dune beige looks great but the next cruiser needs to be "rustic green".

It is possible to get a deep shine out of single stage with a good polish, but these trucks never called for it. In fact, a little orange peel was the norm. The single stage paint I use is spies hecker and like it, but it's not cheap.

I have recently completed a vehicle in Volcanic Beige, but that is a lighter/blonde tan than the grayish tan found in dune beige.

I have also started custom blending powder coat powder for body color pieces like hinges with good results. Will post pics if interested.

it looks like Cadet blue

Nice! Are those factory mirrors? What do you do with the holes on the doors when you run those mirrors?
I think they are CCOT mirrors. As for the holes, just leave the doors off : )

I like this color, not sure if it's the 854 Sky Blue, from what I can see from one sample chip taken from paintrep.com looks much darker. What's your take on the light blue on the FJ40 pic. Thanks!

Great info I will give the quicksand 2KP a try on my 416 fj45.

unrelated to the beige posts directly above this post...

Scanned in the paint chips I have for Volcanic Beige. I don't know if this is 67-69 Toyota or 67-69 Land Cruiser. Sometimes the paint manufacturer will list the vehicle make and model. For Volcanic Beige, it just says Toyota.

T-1262 Volcanic Beige (light beige) 67-1969
DuPont Laquer 8470L
DuPont Enamel 99158A
MartinSenour Paints - NAPA - 21025
PPG and Ditzler code 22923
??? - 90409

Well, time to pull the trigger and order paint as we are ready to start shooting the 40! https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/80054-rub-dub-dub-pablos-got-new-tub.html

Painter wants to work with single-stage, urethane DuPont.

Paint shop said no prob w/ T-031 White.

I saw this post from Pimp: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showpost.php?p=92276&postcount=11 and decided to ask for the T-302 Shell Ivory for the top, she could not find it in her computer. I asked her for T-012 Cygnus White and she had it. I have seen this white on various Pig and I think it will be fine for a roof cap (just not sure how it will look next to T-031 White).

Then I asked for T-1434 Ash Gray Metallic and again there was no luck in the computer. I asked her for T-128 Warm Silver Poly and she said T-128 turns up as Silver, trim color, all models for Toyota. So I thought that sounded safe. She has a chip of the T-128. I'll go pick up the paint in a few minutes and if the chip looks good compared to my ash tray I'll get a quart.

Wish me luck!

The paint shop was really cool and gave me the "recipes" for these paint codes!

Hope this may help someone down the road...

I think I forgot to comment on the silver that I got for trim. After looking at the color chips for the T-128, I ended up going with the Toyota 142 silver color which only shows up for years '82 and up, but I thought it looked good. I'll know soon! Bought the paint in late 2012, should be shooting the silver soon...

Would anyone knows what is paint code for trucks below (sorry, was asked before but could not find answer)

Well, I've posted on just about every other thread, why not this one. PPG single stage paint "Pale gray" kinda between dunes beige and volcanic beige. It was pretty glossy when new, but if you don't wax it for a year or so it gets a nice satin sheen.:D Bad pic. Had a finger smudge on the camera lens.
