For a moment, I thought I was going to be able to make it to LCDC, but work is going to take that time again.

However, I'm retiring at the end of the year and have sometime I can take in September. That said, my son starts school then and I have a new born. So family can't go (which makes me sad) but looks like I have 19 days available, can only take them in September. I want serious amount of time away from pavement. So...

Where should I go?

Whoa! Retiring and have a newborn? Well, hello Mr. Jagger!

Well retiring at 65 and retiring from WAR are two very different things. :)

I replied to your post but, yes, was intended for @Taco2Cruiser

Done some research but don’t see much on Cam tower seal leaks. Many on here have that problem?

I pulled a 18 foot covered trailer this weeekend and got horrible gas mileage! AVG after Refuel 7.5 mpg

Whao. That indeed is bad. Worse than I would expect from that type of trailer.

What was your average speed? I generally tow between 55 to 65 to preserve some semblance of gas mileage (10-11 mpg)

It also looks like you have some tall tires. Manual recommends towing in S4 gear.

Speed Limit was 70, so between 70 - 75. Tach stayed pretty constant at 3000 rpm.

70-75 with that trailer will hurt MPG due to monstrous air flow resistance.
Drop down to 60 or less and I’d wager your mpg improves significantly.

Seriously disappointed...

Wife and I are finally back home after over 9000 miles of road trip: AL, MS, LA, TX, NM AZ, UT, NV, CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, SD, IA, MO, IL, KY, TN, GA and back home.

The LC performed flawlessly. Saw many beautiful places and things. Lost a few buck in Vegas. Too foggy at Moro Rock in Sequoia NP. Only had one day rained out. Tried to find old places I lived in Santa Cruz, CA and Hillsboro, OR, but either my memory sucks or they have been torn down and replaced (latter being likely since it's been almost 30 years since I last saw either place).

What I'm disappointed about is the failure to see even one 200 series LC. Saw a few LX570s. In Yellowstone we saw a bunch of white 4Runners and a like number of the Magma (yellow) FJ Cruisers. Enough that we began to wonder if they were all from a single rental agency for tourists flying in.

Not the usual rock crawling pic, but here we have the wife driving though tunnel log in Sequoia National Park.

Had a chance to spend some time outside Leadville to shake things out with some new camping gear and enjoyed Mosquito Pass all to myself (and my 3 yr old son who fell asleep on the way up due to my awesome line picking!)

Also, the OzTent RV5 with front and side panels is awesome. Not a ton of pics of the tent but am very happy with it over a three night trip with plenty of rain, etc, at 10k'

Pretty awesome setup huh?

Question for all of 200 series owners. Is it worth getting a 2013 or newer year? Was not sure is worth it for the terrain response system etc. Or is it just as good getting a 2008 and newer. I am in the market for a pre owned LC/LX570. Need another 3rd row vehicle. Currently have a 2007 4runner sport V6 and the Wife has the 15'limited 4runner with 3rd row, due to child #3 on the way.

I went with a 2008, as I liked the ~$30k price point instead of the ~$45k price point of a 2013. There's a lot of modifications you can do with the price difference. If you aren't going to modify it too much, it makes sense to get the newer car.

The great thing about the 200 series is that the middle row is roomy enough that you can throw all 3 kids there. My kids are ages 12, 7, and 5, and the 12 year old fits in the middle with room to spare, even with normal-size car seats (boosters) surrounding her.

The not so great thing about a 200 series is that if you have 3 kids and two of them in car seats that you need to buckle, third row access is going to be difficult, as you have to fold one side or the other to reach the rear, and you won't be able to put both car seats on the drivers side wider fold down and use the latches.
