looking for recommendations for nutsert kit..
brand, model number or whatever, and source.

Thanks..

We use this one at work (kenworth dealer). It cops a fair amount of abuse and has held up fine for over 6 years, it is a bit pricey for a one off job, but if you want one that will last I highly recommend it.

I got mine at McMaster Carr.
Excellent USA made tool.

Rivnut Tools

Thanks for the tip, but I"m looking for products available in the USA market. I worked for Peterbilt a few years ago in Madison, TN USA the same parent company PACCAR owns Kenworth and Peterbilt.

Looking for a kit with the inserts and appropriate tools to do stuff around 8MM up to say 15MM or similar size in SAE.

thanks... I'll look at McMaster Carr but I really want one of the kit....
does one tool fit different sizes of the inserts or cover a range of sizes?

I just got the tool, one set of dies and one size nut.
The kit in the pic has various size dies and nuts.
Just one tool, you change the dies.

there is like 10 on that page which one do you use?

Sorry, the 1st one with the ratchet style zert tool.

The link is UK but but was bought from Wurth Australia. I assume that wurth products are available in the US

got one from McMaster too although different, looks like a rivet handtool.

but you can improvise fairly readily with a bolt and nuts DIY approach too, I think.

I use the McMaster-Carr stuff...

I use the Wrench-Drive Rivet Nut Installation Tools for mine, one for M8 and one for M6. I'd buy a plier style tool if I were doing a lot of them, but the wrench-drive works fine for low volume stuff (like a home shop).

I was thinking of making the bed of my 60 usefull for changing out floor mounted hold downs and so on. Having a steel or aluminum plate mounted to the bed of the truck, then nutserts installed into the plate would allow a wide range of installation applications for holding things down and so on. What kind of pull force can these nutserts before pulling out of sheet metal?

I didn't see any tear out force numbers but they are pretty stout. You want to drill a hole out to a very close tolerance to nut, they give you a drill size.

Was planning on asking about this when I get back stateside and start in on the truck again. Glad to have come across it. That metric kit from McMaster is just what I'm looking for.

revnut and nutsert the same thing?

This is what I been using for the past 4 years..
cheap and does the job..

45 Piece Threaded Insert Riveter Kit

I bought the metric nutserts at macmaster carr and the metric drivers I got them at the local bolt store...
