I thought I would show you a few pics of IanB's and my work this last weekend. I started with A-pillars from metal tech, 80ft of .120 wall 2" HREW and this image I generated during some downtime at work.

and here is where we got

The B-pillar spreaders and the A-B gussets are cut. Nothing is finish welded because I have been too sick to do anything these last two days. It isn't attached to the body and frame mounts are not complete.

Looks good! I see you finally started to chop on that rear tube. Looks really good. Did you start connecting to the frame yet?

Let me know when you guys are bending it up again.

Looks like i'm getting at least a front nose guard for my radiator as well :D

You building the cage w/ dovetailing in mind I see. Looks alot like mine but i should have made mine so that i could dovetail it.

The main idea was to tie to the frame without going inside the rear fenders so that i would not rub. My rear axle is pushed pretty far back and it will only go back further. With bigger tires who knows, dove tail is a possiblity. I kinda wish I would have gone higher with the b-c pillar tie in, but i didnt want to make the c tie in crazy long so I stayed close to the fenderwells. I try to tell myself I don't care about my body much, i guess we'll see :)

I like that design, pretty wicked... Make sure you post up all of the final pics for us

A stupid tip.
Paint the bottom of the mounting plates.

I pulled my cage last night and I had not painted mine and they were rusting along with the floor pan.

Busta'

Did you get your cage done yet? Post up some pics... I never see your rig around town.

Cage not done, just finally got over strep and mono. Everything that is there is burned in, spreaders on the b-pillar are in, frame tie ins are cut, overhead spreaders are cut, gussets are cut and notched.

I still need to notch overhead spreaders and get all tie ins done, cage is still just loosy bouncing around in my truck, nothing is bolted down yet. hopfully this weekend I'll pull it out and burn everything in and get it painted. Tonight i'm going to work on notching and fitting all the peices if I have energy to do it.

This thread is useless without more pics! :crybaby:

... and no I haven't burned all those pics onto CD for you yet but I will. :whoops:

Its called a grinder :grinpimp:

I'm getting pretty good with it and on straight notches I can hit the first time with just a cut off wheel and my trusty sharpy.

But most my notches are complex and a notcher wouldn't really do any good because you have like 4 different notches at one node for one end of a tube.

Finally got the rest of this mess burned in.

I still need to burn in all the tie-ins and drill a bunch of holes. I also need to go pick up a dash bar, planning on 1.5" Not a lot of work, just have to get motivated.

Was burning some beautiful welds tonight :)
