@bobm i can check and see if hes willing to make another one if you'd like.

Took me 6 months of twisting his arm to make this one. Hes a huge Jeep guy, worked for Dakota Customs (Jeep modifying company that a affiliated with the company i work for.) He just started his new business and finally had time to sit down and mess with it. lol

Buddy of mine has a plasma table and made it. It's just plain steel (not sure what grade ect) and added a steel stain to make it look copper. Pretty darn neat. Supposed to be hanging in the garage but I've yet to get around to hanging sheet rock yet. So it'll hang in the man cave for now.

Is that the guy that does C4 Fab? I saw his pieces at the Black Hills Cruiser Classic! I was really hoping I would win one at the raffle...

I *need* a plasma table!

Horray! An update! So as some of you have noticed i havent posted any updates in a while. Between a super busy schedule with work (switched jobs/buildings, and then back again), a busy summer with my family (visited Virginia for a week, and Chicago for a few days), and just in general normal life, the cruiser got put on the back burner a little bit. With my busy schedule i figured it might be quicker if i have a buddy of mine who owns a body shop do some of the body work on the cruiser. We'll that fast tracked some other projects i had for her.

A few months ago i went to start up the Narwhal to take it over to my buddies to get an estimate (been a few months since i had started it) Go out to her and crank her over, and it sounds like she has a pretty bad misfire. So run to the store pick up some new plugs/wire, and a few gallons of fresh gas. Get back, swap out the stuff i purchased, crank her over.

Grinding.

Great, what the hell was that? Not your typical starter stuck grinding, but something grinding inside the engine! So i reluctantly kicked her over after a few moments. starts up again, no noises, but the misfire was still there....Great....

Being as i already had a LM7 (Chevy LS-iron block based engine) much like Scrapdaddy and Lil' John has, i didnt want to spend too much money dumping into and engine i was already planning on replacing. So i started the cruiser up, and in the garage she went for tear down.

And so it starts.

Upon tearing down the engine partially (dropped the pan, popped the valve covers) i dont see anything that would have caused an grinding like it was, I was also hearing some mild knocking coming from the bottom of the engine. Once i get everything settled where it needs to go, i'll tear the heads off it and see if i see anything odd there. plans is to rebuild the engine and sell it.

In the middle of this process, i picked up a new project. During the summer i moved my parents back to here (South Dakota) from Tennessee. In the process of trying to find them a house, i stumbled upon a car that i couldnt pass up (wasnt for sale...best kind)

Meet the new member of the family. 67' Charger.

Originally a 318 car with a auto on the column, however the car doesnt have the original engine, nor the fender tag. So its going to also end up a restomod. I was given a 440 big block and a 727, so its whats going to get stuffed in temporarily to get it running.

Good to have you back. What transmission, adapters are you going with in the wagon. Can't see the charger because of photobucket, can you post them through MUD.

Stupid photobucket. I'll try uploading them to mud when I get home. Bunch more updating, All I have time for this morning.

Not sure on pig party 18' yet

Since the cruiser already had a small block installed in it, whoever did the swap before used the advanced adapter kit with a ranger box. so i'll be using the same equipment. However some modifications had to be made to some of the other hardware to make it work.

To follow up scraps question of what hardware im using to make everything work. The old school small block stuff flywheel vs the new school small block stuff is different. First of all, the newer small block cranks have a wider bolt pattern to the flywheel, second of all, when you look at the rear crank on a newer small block vs the older small block, they are inset differently. The newer small block cranks are inset roughly .400 of an inch. The crank itself is almost flush with the backside of the block. Also, the truck engine like im using (5.3L) never really had an accommodation for a pilot bearing, so a custom piece is needed here as well. One last noticeable difference between the two blocks is the engine mount locations. The newer blocks mount location is about 2 inches farther back.

Since im converting from a older small block conversion to a new small block, there was a few things i had to accomodate for, first was the difference in offset of the crank (input shaft on the transmission length being the issue here), and the engine mounts being a 2 inch difference, so i was not able to just drop the engine on the old mounts without some trick pieces.

First the flywheel/pilot bushing. Lots of people do this conversion in other models, so luckily their is the support of the aftermarket to solve my issues.

.400 inch thicker flywheel

.400 inch longer pilot bearing.
