The next trick piece that i had to run was to make up for the 2 inch difference in the engine mount locations. After a while of stewing on it, deciding if i wanted to just cut off the mounts on the frame and relocate, i ran across these.

Dirty dingo slotted mounts.

Luckily for me these worked perfect as they are the same mount design i had.

So after i got all that solved, on to getting the engine bolted in.

I have some minor tweaking to do to make everything work the way it needs too. As of right now the only issue im running into is the driver side manifold hitting the factory steering box. Originally i was going to do the engine conversion and swap to power steering at the same time, however with the events unfolding the way they did, i will end up doing that part later. What im going to be doing is offsetting the engine and transmission about and inch offset to the passenger side to accommodate for this.

At some point in time i will be cutting the mounts off the engine and transmission and shifting the whole assembly backwards an inch or two to have more room up front. Also my shifter when put in 3rd gear currently bounces off the dash, so it'll help correct that as well.

Can't see the charger because of photobucket
Copied this from another forum, so not my own work nor can I be responsible for it....

If you're using Google Chrome, go to the three dots on the right side of the screen and click them. A drop down should appear. Hover your mouse over "More Tools," and when the next drop down appears, click on extensions. Go to the link towards the bottom that says "Get more extensions." In the search box, type "Photobucket Fix," and hit enter. Click the install button and once it's done, you should be able to see photobucket pictures again.

For FireFox users, click on the three bars on the right side of the screen, then click on add ons. Click search for "photobucket hotlink" and click install. Same result.

Opera is now catered for;
Menu/Extensions/Get Extensions, search "photobucket hotlink fix", install.

Same result; all photobucket images embedded in posts on forums become unblocked.

nice. thanks for the heads up. done and done.

On to the last part of my update.

Since i have the engine portion situated, figured i would start working on the wiring. As some of you know, the factory gm harness puts the pcm in the driver side fender well. For mine, and a lot of peoples cases, isnt what they want. So i deloomed the harness so i could swap the way the harness runs, and re route it.

that picture was mid switching sides. the harness has been swapped roughly to the passenger side so it can go through the firewall. I have a buddy that i gave the harness to, to make it pretty and add in the necessary fuses, dtc connector, and relays to the harness, and to do a nice job looming it and shortening the wires that were way too long. Once i get that back i'll be able to screw around with some of the other routing of things.

next on my list of to do's is to fix my manifold clearance issue.

and just to add some random pictures of my summer.

Beautiful family, next time keep your mug out of it, just teasing :) Moving on, Devil's advocate...maybe wiser to add the power steering box now and be done moving motor mounts down the road. Mine was real close on the pass. side for fitting the a/c condenser line fittings, moving the motor more to the right seems problematic. What type of exhaust manifolds/headers or you going with?

Something I wanted to mention, I'm using a 2004 truck motor and the exhaust manifolds dumped right out on the frame. I went with block hugger headers to make it work, if you need or want to try the truck manifolds, you can have them for shipping if needed.

Reason for currently not doing the ps swap is time crunch, once is start that, it will be done right the first time. The majority of everything im adjusting is adjustable, so it can be moved back by simply unbolting and shifting, nothing that will be solidly put into place. Plus once i do the ps conversion i plan on adding a sleeve plate to the frame, and im not currently setup in my garage for doing the heavy plate welding yet.

Currently im going to try to fit the manifolds that i have (2002 Tahoe). its not set in stone that im going to be using those yet, was looking at block huggers as well, but i'll then run into manual steering box (see problem #1 lol)

Question for you now Ron, on your fuel system im assuming you kept the truck fuel rail setup, which has the two fuel lines coming out the driver side of the engine. I know that you have a custom fuel tank, so this might be a bit different than my situation. The stock FJ55 fuel tank is runs only one fuel line from the tank, how did you do your fuel line setup? This would also be a good question for @Lil'John as well, not sure if hes gotten this far yet in his swap yet though.

My system is only one line, return line is right out of the corvette filter/regulator that's mounted to the crossmember back by the tank. I'm using the GM in tank pump as well.

BTW, nice hob on the harness. It wasn't as bad as most think... was it?

Not as bad as people think it is. I spent about 3 hours roughing it in. Making it pretty is what takes time. I could have spent another 3 hours cutting and soldering wires back together. But that's what I'm paying my buddy to do. Worth it to me to pay bin to make it look pretty so I can spend more time with my family.

This is where it was once I had it roughed in. Not the best picture but you get the point.

Stone Brewing is kind of a big deal here in San Diego.

Sadly nothing to write home about, it kinda got put on side burner, plans are to start diving back into it here in the next month or two.

Side projects got me side tracked. lol

For one, my 67 Charger i picked up a year ago, been trying to get it into moveable/driveable condition.

Secondly i ended up with a 77' FJ40 this past November due to a friend getting ill and selling it to me for a very very fair price. So currently my time has been spent getting that back up to running/driving condition.

day i brought it home

current condition, still needing to work out little bugs, but im close.
