Well I have been really busy at the shop lately and between replaceing my clutch, another cruiser owners clutch and doing body work on another 40 i have had no days off from work in over a month. The clutches i have been doing on the weekends. I was going to be doing some work to a 40 for a bit but that has changed. That being said i should be starting back up on this thing this weekend a bit. One good thing my brand new tailgate from Lomusass should be leaving from down south soon. And i think I got a really good job offer today. Guy stopped in shop and we were talking about trucks and i said i need to find a real job now and he asked what i was looking for and i said a GS job and he pulled out a card and gave it to me. It was for something that i wanted to do while i was in but it looks like i can do it outside of the army. It will be training people on IED's in other countries. Like our troops in Iraq / Afghanistan. I hope i can get it. It will take me back overseas sometimes but that is what i wanted anyhow.

Well, I am starting back up on this thing again, Been working alot on the frame, dang things are a pain to get just right. Spent all day yesterday sandblasting it for like the third time, was going to again today but it looked relly good so i went ahaed and put some rust bullit on it to try and stop the little bit that i sould not get to. Wish we had a chemical dipper around here big enough for a frame sometimes though.Last saturday ordered 4 grand worth of parts for this thing so hopefully soon they will come in and i can really get going on this thing steady like.Don't have pictures from the last few days but here are some from today. Am still thinking about painting this thing black for the final coat on the frame.

What do you all think stay with the rust bullit silver or go black. The cruiser is going to be the mustard coler from the 70's i think it was.

And yes before any one comments about my redneck way of hanging the frame. Yes i am a redneck, and yes i can still move very fast when i need to. Dang thing wanted to go for a little spin on me yesterday when i was under it. Good thing it never went all the way but did i move fast and the neighbor came out of his garage real fast when he heard my brace fall. All in a days work.

Black, definitely black. I think a frame should be noticed because it's clean, not because it's some pimpin color. JMHO.

Ya, I was thinking the same thing. Going to paint it black tonight hopefully. Then can start the reassembly process.

I say black also, but dang that thing is starting to look purddy.

I got the first coat of black on today. Will put the final coat on tomorrow and get some pics and post them afterward. After I get the frame done then i have to pull the axles and start doing them. After that i can start going back together with the drive train, and setting it on the frame.

And yes it was gloss black, starting to look much better already.

No,I am still waiting for the parts.

Guess thats what i get for waiting for a sale and then ordering a butt load of parts. Supposedly they shipped them friday. Called them the day prior and asked what the deal was and they said they were waiting for a couple of parts and it could be 3 weeks. I said I hoped they were not holding the entire order for a couple of parts when i ordered over 100 parts from them.

Live and learn.

Will have pics tonight of the frame. Must admit myself it looks totally different now though, than it did when i first started this thing.

Well here are some shots of the frame. After the frame dries for a couple of days i will put some stands under it and start removing the axles and work on rebuilding them.:) :) :)

Alright, no new pics today, not too much done but i have to ask this. Did the early as in 64 time frame put the axle centering bolts all the way thru the housing thru the springs and then the bottom plate. That is what i dealt with today. How strange. I pulled the axles and springs today and the housings are draining right now. Then tomorrow i will buy some cheap stands to set the axles on while i strip them down completely. My parts will not be in till the 20th but that is still before x-mas.

Alright a lttle update again. Got the rear axle taken apart and low and behold one of the PO before me did some funky stuff again. Looks to me that he could not find lug nut studs that fit right, so he did the next best thing and made some fit by welding them on, on the back side . I will post some pics of how it should look and how it does look. Got the rear end all cleaned up, have to admit though, the part that had some rust bullit overspray on it did not want to let go. Took an awful lot to get that stuff off, which is a really good sign just kinda sucked trying to get it off where i wanted it off. Also you will see where the c-clip gave out in the past and they just put it all back together and drove on. Left the flat mark on the brake drum and all. Well , getting ready to go out here soon and start taking the front end apart and find neat stuff up there.

and one last one of the axle housing, even kept the welding splatter on it. Was going to grind them down but thought it looked better on.

The fun from today.

Worked on the front end. As you can see from the pics, the PO had taken and put on some high speed wheel spacers on the front.  Yes he put some washers on it, and there was not really enough threads left to properly hold the wheel on.

After that tore apart the front axle complete, and low and behold someone had been in there and really did not know what they were doing. On the passenger side top steering knuckle and bearing, as i was trying to get it apart it just fell apart. The cage that held the bearings together was just trashed. The inner part of the bearing holder is frozen onto the knuckle, so i will have to put some heat onto it to take it apart, as you can see from the pics someone tried to chisel it off or something wierd.

Tomorrow i will pull the third member and strip the housing and get it painted, and ready to start going back together on tuesday when my parts come in.:D :D :D

If you want, I can sell you my parts for a 4 wheel disk conversion on this thing. I have rear axle shafts, caliper brackets, calipers, rotors, and mini truck knuckles with calipers, shields, and rotors, etc. I don't have the proportioning valve, or hoses, but I'm pretty sure I have most everything else. I was thinking about keeping the birfields and locking hubs for spares, but I suppose I might let them go if you needed them.
