There you go. That's all of them.

Definitely some rust but I am not looking for a mint rig or frame off resto. Just something that looks OK, is mechanically and electrically sound that I can tool around town in and maybe the occasional short road trip.

No offroad action for the 55 I am looking for. Just a fun driver that is reliable and isn't almost rusted away.

Thanks again for the views / responses and I'll wait for your feedback.

Everyone agrees $6800 is high, what would a reasonable offer be??

Thanks!

This is the east coast man that level of rust is quite low for us. Whats up with the drivers door? Looks like it has some fitment issues. I think 4k would be a pretty solid price for it but not sure if you can talk the guy down 1800.

hmmm....not TOO bad, but not as straight or rust free as anticipated.
The 2f, 4 speed and power steering (what kind of PS, btw?) are nice. Still have drum brakes in front? Any under hood pics? And what is that on the ceiling???

There were a few under hood pics. The owner doesn't know what year the 2F is but it has been rebuilt - about 4 years ago.

Disc brakes. The headliner is molded and is on all the way to the back. The back section has been removed and that appears to be rust. He was going to rhino-line it.

EDIT: He says the power steering is a saginaw conversion.

Well I personally think you could have posted atleast 10 or 20 more pics. :D

It is a very nice Pig. Still, I dont think it is worth $6800. I would offer him $4k and go no higher than $4500.

But then I am a cheap bastige.

Thanks for the guidance. I think he'll be offended with a $4K offer and seems to have much more in it than that. Although, what can it hurt - he can always say no...

Like I said, before I make an offer, I'd need a compression check and have it really checked out for mechanical / electrical integrity.

Personally I think you can get a much nicer pig for what he is asking, if you do buy it that rust will need to be addressed or it is only going to get worse in a hurry!!

If you can get him down to around 4-5k it might be worth it, but if you get a compression test and the numbers are strong then go for it if it is what you want, but I would make sure it is mechanically top-notch since the body is going to need attention.

Looks pretty good Andy, I hope you get it so theres another pig at events since I'll be able to bring mine now. The other pigs in the club havent gone anywhere since I joined over 2 yrs ago. I'd say its about a 5000-6000 rig. It has good upgrades like the 4 spd and discs. But it still has some decent body work to be done, and the interior roof looks more rusted then mine and I paid $1 for it. Its a really good base to start from if you want to have it be a super clean driver though.

Cool. When I find my pig (if this is it) it won't see any trail time. Maybe head down your way for a Sonic meeting or something like that but no beating it on the trail.

When was it painted? With the paint bubbling on the rockers I would question how much rust is really underneith it.

Since you seem to have the funds for a really nice pig, I would offer him no more than $4500 and if he is insulted move on. There are some very nice pigs out there for a better price.

I agree - I looked at pigs for years now and as hard as it is to believe, this is the least amount of rust I've seen.

You're right - there is some screwy fitment issues with the driver's door. He put new weather stripping in and I think it's partly to blame. The upper portion (where the window starts) moves a lot more than it should though.

It is missing some pieces too - like a rear window roll down handle, some latches, lots of weather stripping around the outside, passenger side view mirror, front and rear glass is cracked, etc.

I agree, JP. If he'd do $4K, it would be over. I'd plan on putting fresh paint on it anyway and while I was at it, some serious sanding and repairing some of the spots would be done. It's no too bad though like Richard said.

I agree - it was painted about 5 years ago. I really don't want to spend too much on a "really" nice pig. I have too many other cruiser projects going on right now to dump a lot of $$ into a primo condition pig. This is kind of what I've been looking for - not close to perfect but fine for tooling around town. We'll see about a lower offer.

I've got all the latches and handles and things for the doors which you can have if you buy this pig I dont need them. You definitely have to paint it though it needs to be 2 tone.

Any idea on the hole of the right front side?? There also seems to be other sideview window mounting holes on both sides. Don't know which one is the OEM location...

Also, it starts up right away and runs fine but when it is turned off, it sputters and goes on for about 5 seconds before it stops.

2200USD is my top offer. Dude... this guy thinks he is selling you a gold mine. That Pig is not worth 6800 or 4000 or 3000.... its not even really worth 2200 but if you want it thats what I would offer.

Th drivertrain is greasy and oily and leaking. Thats un-sat for a $6800 pig. Interior needs to be gone thru... also un-sat for a pig at that asking price. Even with the 2F the engine bay looks like crap for someone wanting 6800 or even 4000 for a Pig. You are going to have to go thru that front axle. If it were me... I wouldnt buy it for that price. If you want to know my true top offer in desperation... 1800USD. I dont trust other PO's work. It always comes down to me going thru the rig to make it run, stop, and be safe. I know for a fact you can do much better then this deal.

The hole in the side is probably the antenna location, and the driver side mirror is in the right spot so any mirror on the passenger side would be in the same place.

As for the oily and stuff that minipig is talking about it could be seals and stuff but at the same time it could be drain plugs that arent tight that just needs a closer look before you have a fit over it.

OK, some more perspective. This is what I was looking for...

I agree $6800 is high - am trying to figure a fair price. I don't mind spending time and fixing what is wrong. Most likely what ever pig I buy, I will hold onto it for a long, long time.

$1800 definitely won't fly but this gives me a better perspective for sure. Thanks.

sounds like the engine is "desieling" shouldn't be anything more than a tune-up and timing adjusting would fix.

like USMcruiser said, I would am nervous to what the extent of the rust under that bubbling is......... I have had vehicles with rust bubbles like that and the rust is usually more extensive than the bubbles reveal

but in the end it is really about how much you want it...... and if it is really what you want go for it, you can always use another cruiser :D

$4k tops, otherwise have some PATIENCE and wait for a better one to come along, especially if you have the $7k to spend....

Noah

No problem with patience - I've been looking for years and a few more won't hurt. This one happens to be a few miles from my house and I've been watching it around here for a long time.

Thanks for the offer Richard. This one might not be it but I'll have a pig some day - so you'll have piggie brethren at some point...

I want it but REALLY wanted to hear the feedback here and got it.

Thanks, guys. Definitely some things to consider. I'll sleep on it and see how I feel tomorrow.

Actually JP, what I "need" is to sell some of this horde I've amassed over the years but I can't bring myself to do it. Start with one and maybe it won't be so bad...
