Well I just went through all the pictures again and noticed that the engine bay is pretty rusted. Granted it looks like surface rust but combine that with the bubbling paint and the drip rails and the C pillar rust and the bondo... I have a sneeky suspision that there is a ton of hidden rust on this thing. When it was painted 5 years ago I doubt they did any preventative maintence. I see alot of work to get this body in shape. It is a sleeper. Good from 10 feet, but when you get up close nad personal there is alot of work.
Rear Reflectors,
Passenger side rear reflector,
Passenger side view mirror,
Driver sun visor,
Radio,
Rust,
Oil leaks,
Weather stripping,
cracked front & rear windows,
No head liner,
Moldy insulation,
Does he sitll have the headliner hoops?

Enough with the bad.

It is a nice cruiser and has potential to be amazing.
2F
4 speed tranny
Nice seats (dont know about front bench)
How are driver and passenger floor boards?
PS
Straight body pannels
Nice rear bumper
Front discs

I say offer him what you think is reaonable. But agian I wouln't offer him over 4000

Actually JP, what I "need" is to sell some of this horde I've amassed over the years but I can't bring myself to do it. Start with one and maybe it won't be so bad...
Start with the 100's and an 80. After that you should be good.

No room for pink panties when you have a pig in the pen. :flipoff2:

those 100's of andys aren't pink panty material, they proudly wear trail scars!!!! :D

I do find it funny though Andy, you don't want to wheel the 55, but you will beat the crap out of you 100s and 80s :D

oh and sell the 100, to Mary Ellyn that is......... she needs a cruiser she just don't know it yet

Andy you dont need to sell any cruisers, you need to get more so you can be the east coast landpimp. You just need a 55 a 25 a 45 truck a troopie maybe a 70 series. That would be cool.

I agree - to be a pig worthy of admiration it needs a lot of work. I guess I need to decide how much work I want to put into it and how "nice" I want to make it.

All good points, thanks!

I think the pig group is a serious bunch of cheap BASTIGES!!! :flipoff2:

A POS rusty 40 series will still sell for 3K...

To me, that is a "fairly solid" pig...don't belive me? check up a few threads for the strangest piggy thread...

I don't know where everyone finds these rust free single owner pigs for 1,000 but $1,800 i think is WAY low for a mostly solid runnig/driving pig. 3-4K would be good, definitely no more than 4K.

Pay what you want, in the end all you need to do is feel good about what you purchased...not the fact that so and so found pigs all day long that Mr. Toyoda stored in a climate controlled environment and is willing to sell for $1,350.76

Accept it or not peeps, these things are getting more scarce...between the rust monster, mother nature and a few people who wreck them...(;) ) they are just going to be harder and harder to find decent ones. Look at all the crap 45 owners have to deal with...UGLY UGLY PO mods...if you take your time and continue to look for *the* one that is cherry and cheap...be prepared to wait and wait and wait then travel...

look it over, offer 3ish and see what happens if you really like it. hell they all have wacky s***e to fix on them. Mine had bondo, a chopped frame fitted with a ford van gas tank...becuase EVERYONE knows it's easier to chop the frame, pull the gas tank, replace with ford van tank and rebuild rear frame with C-channel and put back together, than buy a Toyota gas tank...;p

grrr...vent off...you'll enjoy the pig...just don't pay $6,800 lol

Thanks for the feedback, Ben.

I understand and agree with your points - believe it or not, I've been looking around here for about 5 years and this one (while having lots of issues) is pretty darn nice considering everything else I have looked at.

EDIT - Man, was I bummed when I saw what happened to your pig. Definitely one of the nicest ones I've ever seen.

Yes, but 40's are worth much more on the open market! 55's are just not worth as much on the open market. The guy was looking for opinions on what the truck "should" be worth on the open market. Yes, in 5 years the pigs might be worth more, just like in the past 10 the 40's have become priced crazy high.....

that being said, opinions on the internet are like assholes, everyone's got em.

noah

Forget the 80s and 100s and go for a PIG! Be daring, different, unique, and not part of the 'Land Cruiser' yubby crowd!;p ;p

I've seen that link. Good looking pig.

they are already getting pricey on the west coast

Silk purses and sow's ears, my friend. To make the pig he's looking at even half as nice as that orange one will cost him twice as much. You’re better off buying the orange one for three grand more, plus another several hundred to ship it across country, than to try and fix all that rust.

Hang in there; there are good deals to be found. Hell, I paid 3500 for mine and it barely has any rust compared to the one you’re looking at. But then again, that's CA for you. People here, at least those who don’t know any better, want 40's.;)

this WAS a Cat Town TN pig

looks like in 03' he was asking $6K for it. It was for sale there for quite a while from what I remember (and what my pig database says). See link:
http://ads.cruizers.com/classifieds.cfm?adID=496
Just my .02. I'm in NC and been lookin' for years (tire kicker status at this point) and $4K seems about right...maybe $4500.

As ben said, Think about it. make an offer that you feel you can live with. It is your opinion of what it is worth to you. Keep in mind that the rust will need to fixed quickly. That may run quite abit if you don't do it yourself. There are very few replacement body parts on the market. Most would need to be fabricated or patch panels formed. Make your own decision and we hope to see you at the Swine-o-rama this Summer.

Good luck and let us know when you buy this one or another.

Good find. The seller completely disclosed this info when we've talked. He bought it in Chatanooga from the guy in this listing. Seems like a really good, honest guy. This supports my thinking.

Like I said before, I am in agreement that $6800 is high. His price is that way because he obviously overpaid. He has a lot more than $800 into it with parts from SOR, CCOT, etc.

I'll let it sit a few weeks and if it doesn't sell, I'll make a lower offer.

Thanks!

Here's another NC pig that's been for sale for a LONG time. The local cruiserheads I know say it's WAY overpriced for the condition but in the pictures, it certainly looks to be in better shape than the one in this thread:

http://cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=21&paId=177507396&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&recnum=8&leadExists=true&criteria=K-%7CE-%7CM-_47_%7CD-_428_%7CN-N%7CR-30%7CI-1%7CP-PRICE+descending%7CQ-descending%7CZ-27615&aff=national

Plus, it has a V8 conversion. I don't want that - I want the original 2F, tranny and t-case.
