I laughed too hard at this, maybe even cried a little in a very relatable tone.

Reminded me of a passage of Lord of the Rings, when King Theoden charges with the Rohirim... Yes, I am a Tolkien geek.

I need 'my Precious' (the ring), to disappear when the bills come in.

This Veterans Day, a shout out to all those who served, or are serving, be they armed services, PC, or spooks.

New tires and rims, before the anterior bumperectomy today:

After:

Deja vu. Swapping in a vintage apron and fender.

A few bolts to go yet...

Yup, it was an apron from a '68 (hence the reflector shadow) but it'll do.

The great this about Gollum is that he covets and treasures that which he already has: a mini FJ40 washer in his hand.

Love the new shoes.

Did you already have a set of FST doors or did they come with it?

Thanks @MexicanNewby. They are military Firestones from Coker.

Argh. No doors came with it. Thankfully Wheeler Sean in Portland sold me some. I had a pristine spring green pair of soft doors that I sold with "Stella" the very day the ad for this truck appeared. Just the way it goes! But I know Mudder Ara in Kansas appreciates them.

SAVE THE TUNA! (cans)

Nice Patina on these early turn signals, but the wiring was shot. Transplanted the guts of a new pair into the original tuna cans. The PO had fabricated lenses by grinding down oversized aftermarket lens.

There is a wire clip you have to remove to get the base free, and some wire splicing is involved.

Success! Really had to clean up the insides so the grounding wire's base would make contact with the bulb holder.

There is a reproduction OEM soft top windshield channel on Ebay, and I picked one up as mine had been cut off by a PO.
The thought crossed my mine that this same material could allow you to easily fabricate a soft top door bow from a hard top door bow.
Unfortunately one piece isn't long enough for both doors.

Some bling for the bib.

A correct tan bezel is in the works. This one is on as a place holder.

The Cruiser Gods are smiling. Out of the blue @kevos37 posted these OEM bows for sale off of a '64. Their factory spring green paint is peaking out all over so I'm hoping the PO's paint will strip off easy. I had no hope of finding such bows, and was planning to go with reproductions.

Dang Brian, is there anything left to do on it? It even has acorns already. This one is VIN FJ40-33465.

Mine is 34377, about 1000 apart! I just got it registered and insured so anxious to pull it out of winter storage. It really doesn’t need much, runs and drives very nice. Going to throw some Ndt’s on and drive the heck out of it this summer. I have a black. Top, and an old white one. I might get a Julie 5 window in white eventually.

So I am your elder. ;) Am in the que for one of Julie's tops. Not sure I like the bright white, and so went with buckskin. I think it will look good with spring green.
[edit, supply chain issues have now make the pending color 'saddle'.]

@whitey45 what‘s with that bezel? Maybe it’s the pic.

I bought a 63 40 , 25 years ago and have kept the stamped bezel ever since. It’s been on numerous 45’s over the years and now found a new home. Not sure why that pic is so weird? Keith, not sure about the bright white either, look forward to seeing the buckskin and a fit and finish review!

Thank you! Unless you're talking about the red one. If so, good taste.
