Newbie- how many people use 150k plus as daily driver

Me, I drive mine daily driver style all week long. I'm puting about 500 to 1000 miles a week lately. Yes, that's right, a week. Yesterday I filled up in the morning, and refilled again at night on the way home. I drove almost 300 miles yesterday alone.

I did the maint. last year when I bought it. Keep everything up to date, basically just change the oil and fill up with gas... which is getting rediculous... Jump in and drive.

I drive on a construction site daily too, so I need the 4x4, and I carry tons of stuff regularly. I'm at 202,000 plus mile right now, bought it with 172,000 last Nov. Runs, GREAT! Drives pretty good, only because I haven't put the caster bushings in yet for the 3"es of lift I added. Still not too bad, but will get a little spooky steering wise on uneven pavement. Can't seem to slow down enough to get it done. Def. needs it though with 3"es of lift...

So, as a dd, I love mine. Manitain the beast, and she won't let you down.

We own all these cars, and have no car payments - so if gas is all Iam paying for, I would drive my FZJ80 every day.

This is a great point. We own all our vehicles too, so gas doesn't really bother me much right now... After April of this next year though, I won't be driving as much.

I have had my FZJ80 for a couple of weeks now and love it! I drive it practically every day, and with 212K on the clock she still runs incredibly strong! My LC shares time with a 94 Camry which has 148K on the clock. Toyota makes some great vehicles!

mine's my wheeler and my daily driver.

she's got 159k + on the odometer and I wouldn't hesitate to hop in and drive cross country at the drop of a hat.

Daily driver w/130k on her, I also daily drove my 198k 93 FZJ80, before I sold it. Absolutely no mechanical reason why you can't DD any well maintained 80 series, at any mileage. There might be better financial reasons depending on your commute, etc, but that's another story...

'95 with 160K and my wife's DD. She loves it, and for insurance reasons, it barely pays to have another vehicle as an 'economy car'. Not to mention that our driveway and road require 4WD much of the winter.

With high miles, I tell her to keep an eye on the temperature gauge, and I watch the fluid levels very closely, week to week.

If the idiot politicians and insurance companies would insure the driver instead of the car, we all could own an econo-beater and save fuel, but that's a different rant.

Mine was a daily driver for about 3 years until this spring. Got it at 104K, now at 162K. Picked up a 93 Honda Accord with 163K on it for $2K in April - at 30+ MPG vs. 15MPG, I figure I'm saving about $100/month on gas. Then there's the decreased wear on the cruiser, and not having to have every project done & buttoned up by Monday morning

I have a special trick that makes life better for me at the pump. I put the nozzle in, close my eyes and wait till I hear a click. I then, with my eyes still closed, take the nozzle out and I dont open my eyes until I am back in the rig(not even sure what gas prices are right now). I work about 6 miles from home and my cruiser is my DD. Between work, surf trips and towing the dirtbike trailer my cruiser doesnt tear open my wallet too bad. At least not bad enough yet to warrant getting a commuter and all of the extra $ that goes into having one.

Paseo for the most part as a DD (42 mpg) but the Cruiser two or three times a week to keep me happy.

I've been using an 80 series as a daily driver since 1994. I sold my '94 last year with 225,000 miles on it, and have 150,000 on my "new" one. No problems with either.

The wife DDed the 93 with 170k, and I have been DDing the 94 with 150k, but with the cold weather, she wanted the 80 back.....

148K for the primary family vehicle, minivan replacement. I have no concerns when my wife is out trucking the kids around in the 80, unlike our former Chev Astro that had less than 80K on the ticker and left us stranded 3 times, or Ford Windstar that left us stranded twice with under 90k on it - None of these were due to poor maintenance.

I'll maintain the 80 and put money in to it without thinking twice and keep it as long as I can get parts and the interior holds up.

Ours is my wife's daily driver. Almost 215K on it. I tried to get her a new FJ Cruiser or Tacoma a while back but she prefers the 80.

Drive my 187K Lx450 daily, my daughter drives my 186K 4runner daily as well. mileage doesn't seem to be a real issue. I have a honda accord that my wife drives that only has 90K miles, gets much better mileage, but most of the time we go out as a family we take the LX450. Just sooooo much more fun.
