Cleaned and painted the lower rad shroud, ps splash guard, and the apron hinge yesterday. Turned out decent. Got the hi press ps line in, little short but itll work. Also took my drive shafts to Bull so hopefully thatll be off the list soon. Used the 60 series front ds in the rear and vice versa, both needed to be shortened to work and I asked for double cardans on both. What else? New toyota spark plugs and t stat......

Peetie showed up last night with gifts. He got me a 40 pin water tight plug for the wiring harness. Should be cool to only have one spot on the fire wall that has wires running through it.

Just have to find a good place for it...

Filled in all of the unused holes at the fw, welded a bunch on the tub, and made a couple few little trinkets for the dash. Little more welding and grinding and the tub should be ready for sand blasting.

Found a spot on the fw for the big assed connector Peetie gave me. While cutting the hole for it I noticed that the glove box "floor" wasnt attached to the firewall and po had tried to patch it but didnt finish. So I went ahead and welded all of that and filled in 30 random screw holes in said floor at the same time. Took the opportunity to contour the glove box floor around the connector a little for some more room around it. I then finished patching the head unit cut out in the center of the lower dash along with a bunch more random holes in that area.

Gotta love welding sheet metal...... and po's that screw s*** in with self tappers instead of making brackets off of existing bolt holes...

Bunch of grinding got done as well.

Spent the week working on the sheet metal. Tub is 95% finish welded, aprons are done, front fenders done, grille done, half doors done, wind shield frame done. Have to look over everything one last time before it all gets sent out for blasting and a coat of primer then I guess I have to pick a color.

D

hey D, have you picked a colour ... looking forward to seeing it outside the garage ...

Nope havent picked a color yet. Been messing around with the tub and there was a lot more to finish up than I had convinced myself there was. Was. Couple friends stopped by and we got the tub flipped right side up and sitting on a custom moving dolly/2x4 rolling stand so I spent the last couple days going over the interior sheet metal and the exterior panels. Just trying to get it ready to send out to get sand blasted and epoxy primed.

I have started saving cool 40 colors on my phone lol.

Well still havent decided on a color.... Getting kinda worried Im gonna end up just saying f it and picking something out of the blue. Oh well it is what it is.

Junk goes out tuesday for blasting and epoxy priming so hopefully theres progress next week.

Just been painting and cleaning random stuff here and there lately. Made a pop up led light mount at the cowl vent that the purists are sure to fall in love with. The tub is all taken apart, holes are all reamed out, welding is done as far as I can tell.....

If anyones bored feel free to suggest a color you think wouldnt look terrible. Leaning towards spring green or that other light green that I cant remember the name of....Creamier and darker than the spring.... Im open to suggestions but refuse to paint it any of the pooish brown/mustard/red shades lol.

yeah, Spring Green (T1028) would look good on it, in my opinion, and there's not a ton of 40s with that colour ... maybe its Breathe Greene that's darker/creamier (T1654) ... if I remember right from the snow-plow pics, there was red under the bondo/rust ... was that the original colour ... not that it matters, it doesn't suit red in my opinion ... how about Capri Blue (T310) ... again, not many 40s with that colour and like Spring Green its a 69 colour ... doesn't look like much on a colour swatch, but looks good on a truck ...

I second the spring green. Love that color.

Right on, Im leaning towards the spring as well....

Thanks man. Already have the tan 60 so tan is out.

Red was the original colour of the 69 but the only other fj40 in town is red..... so thats out. The tub im using used to be that other green.

Capri Blue (T310)
+1

Royal blue (T452) was first available on the '69 model year I think. Personal favorite.

I'm going to cheat and paint my '68 that color (eventually). I have a tan 60 also so I know what you mean about not painting it to match.

Appliance epoxy eh lol.

Ill take another look at the capri blue for sure.

D

Ok, I really like the capri. Bastards!

Might be too late, but that's my vote. Not that I'm biased. :D

How about this for some more inspiration...
